Tax Advisor 1 at Elyon Global Shipping Limited

The Role

• As a Tax Advisor 1, you will support the firm’s tax compliance, planning, and reporting functions.
• You will work closely with the finance team to navigate the complexities of tax laws within the shipping and logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Compliance: Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Company Income Tax (CIT).
• Advisory: Provide internal guidance on the tax implications of shipping contracts and cross-border transactions.
• Audit Support: Assist in managing tax audits and responding to inquiries from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and other relevant authorities.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate tax records and prepare periodic reports on tax liabilities and payments.
• Regulatory Tracking: Stay updated on changes in Nigerian tax laws and international maritime tax treaties.

Qualifications & Requirements

• We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundational knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and a commitment to professional excellence.
• Education: HND or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• Professional Certification: Being a Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) licensed practitioner is strongly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of post-license experience in a tax-focused role.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the shipping or logistics sector is an added advantage.
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities, proficiency in accounting software, and excellent communication skills.
