The role requires the management of all procurement categories at any one time with a global mindset. It requires working closely with internationally located supply chain colleagues and with the Nigeria based operations and commercial teams to form strong cross-functional, collaborative partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
To lead the design of the Procurement strategy across all bought categories into the Nigeria site.
To lead the implementation of the Procurement strategy across all bought categories into the Nigeria site, including indirects, packaging and raw materials.
To build strong relationships with our supply partners ensuring quality, best price, continuous supply, adherence to ethical and quality standards and excellent service.
Customizes approach as necessary to develop long-range, global procurement plans for key categories using appropriate thinking, behaviour and practices.
Select suppliers, conduct supplier negotiations, establish and monitor supply agreements, under guidance of Operations Manager & TwO Global Category Leader (GCL) ensuring the delivery of best value to the Company and ethical sourcing policy is upheld.
Measure and review supplier performance and lead supplier continuous improvement programs. Execution of plans to assure continuous supply of quality goods (and services where appropriate); execute plans to combat market changes and challenges.
Support all requests for information for the Operational teams, to ensure all required information is gathered and presented according to their requirement and supporting to build local category plans
Develop and implement effective cost management programs to deliver year-on-year cost improvement, working with relevant Global Category Leaders (GCLs) to ensure consistency of strategy
Lead the local budget process through implementing prices as agreed with the GCL, tracking and reporting on benefits and project process to support the GCL
Co-ordinate the raw material and packaging material ordering/import process ensuring continuous supply at best possible price, and ensuring business continuity
Key ownership of the procurement to pay process at the office including marketing expenses, ensuring controls are effective and best value is delivered to the Company.
Effectively create BCP for all raw materials for newly completed projects
Organise yearly supplier conference to ensure long term planning and relationship
Forecast and plan the mitigation of supply vulnerabilities
Constantly consider corporate social responsibility (CSR) implications and work with the global category leader in developing viable mitigation strategies to support the CSR plans per category, championing for ethical sourcing
Complete the Category Risk Mitigation tool and implement the action plan across local site
Ensure registration and annual audit of vendors in line with ethical sourcing guidelines, and provide ethical compliance training and updates
Ensure that TwO suppliers meet our quality requirements and applicable regulatory requirements (from a global and a local perspective) by initiating appropriate action when supplier quality or compliance deficiencies are identified.
Manage problem resolution and returns as appropriate for assigned portfolio.
Manage and monitor material changes for compliance to quality and regulatory standards.
Proactively build and manage relationships with internal supply chain and market stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, Finance, Quality and Manufacturing) including colleagues working in international locations. Use appropriate processes such as communication plans and well-planned meetings to aid relationship management.
Develop relationships with external stakeholders such as packaging suppliers, third party suppliers, design agencies etc. to identify and deliver ideas and initiatives.
Collation and communication of all associated procurement KPI data requirements, relevant data and ensure proper filing and storage of critical procurement and contract documents
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
A minimum of 12 years experience of procurement within a FMCG Business
Experienced in leading contract negotiations
Experienced in leading on multiple category reviews in a FMCG business
CIPs Qualifications would be advantageous
Experienced communicator at all levels, and the ability to translate complex procurement to all levels
Collaborative and adaptive of style to be able to engage, influence and persuade. Be able to work with and engage many different cultures and personalities and interests to deliver the best output for the business.
Skilled at multi-tasking and prioritisation with Strong project manager experience
