    Solar Project Engineers (Northern and Southern Nigeria)

    Description

    • Develop and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for the department. This involves aligning technical goals with the overall business objectives of the organization. Identify emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in the solar energy industry to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of solar energy projects. Collaborate with project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and provide guidance and support to the project teams.
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the department's team members. Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Mentor and develop technical talent within the department, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality work.
    • Oversee the design and engineering processes for solar energy systems. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Review and approve design documents, technical specifications, and engineering calculations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
    • Stay abreast of the latest advancements and innovations in solar energy technologies. Lead research and development initiatives to explore new technologies, improve system performance, and drive cost reductions. Evaluate and implement pilot projects to test new concepts and validate their feasibility.
    • Establish and implement quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality solar energy systems. Define and enforce quality standards, review and approve quality control procedures, and conduct regular audits to assess compliance. Implement corrective actions to address quality issues and improve overall system performance.
    • Stay updated with local, regional, and national regulations related to solar energy systems. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, permits, and standards. Liaise with regulatory bodies, utilities, and other stakeholders to address compliance requirements and maintain positive relationships.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and operations, to align technical activities with business objectives. Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and successful project execution. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to drive customer satisfaction and business growth.
    • Manage the department's budget and resources effectively. Develop project budgets, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability. Provide input for procurement decisions, vendor selection, and contract negotiations.
    • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Encourage innovation, identify process efficiencies, and implement best practices to enhance operational effectiveness. Foster a learning environment that encourages professional development and knowledge sharing amongst team members.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., technical, business, science).
    • 5+ yearsof relevant experience in solar origination and development.
    • Demonstrated achievements in advancing projects from site identification throughNotice to Proceed (NTP)orCommercial Operation Date (COD).
