Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
• Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote company brands on various social media websites
• Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on social media and other media platforms
• Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability
• Research competitor social media accounts and compare account performance
• Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications
• Support marketing team at live and online events
• Perform social media marketing research
• Assist with influencer campaign strategy
• Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms
• Brainstorm and research ideas for original content
• Create compelling graphics to share across social channels
• Write social media captions that speak to the company’s target audience
• Help create and edit short-form videos
• Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
• Assist with photo/video content shoots
• Ensure the brand message is consistent

Social Media Intern Skills and Qualifications

A successful Social Media Intern candidate will have diverse educational qualifications and technical skills to deliver on the job. These include:

• Undergraduate degree from a tertiary institution - BA or BSC
• 1 year experience in digital marketing/social media marketing
• Impeccable oral and written communication skills
• Basic copywriting skills
• Excellent internet research skills
• Mastery of the major social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, and Google+
• Knowledge of social media analytics software including Meta Insights, Google Analytics and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
• Experience with content management systems, word processor applications and image/video editing software
• Professional Certificate relevant to role or an additional 2 years of experience
• Certificate in a productivity tool (Microsoft/Google)
• Excel Basic Level Certification
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity
• Familiarity with content scheduling tools, like Hootsuite and Buffer
