    School Head Chef

    Job Summary

    • The School Head Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and supervising the preparation of healthy and nutritious meals for students and staff. 
    • This role requires strong culinary skills, leadership abilities, and adherence to food safety regulations.

    Key Responsibilities
    Menu Planning and Preparation:

    • Develop balanced, nutritious, and appealing menus that cater to the dietary needs of students and staff.
    • Ensure meals comply with health standards, allergy restrictions, and cultural preferences.
    • Supervise the preparation and presentation of all meals to maintain quality and taste.

    Kitchen Management:

    • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
    • Manage kitchen staff, assigning duties and ensuring proper training.
    • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in all food preparation areas.

    Food Safety and Hygiene:

    • Ensure all meals are prepared and served following food safety guidelines.
    • Maintain records of food temperatures, storage procedures, and hygiene checks.
    • Conduct regular inspections to guarantee compliance with health and safety regulations.

    Inventory and Budget Management:

    • Order and manage inventory for food supplies, ensuring cost efficiency.
    • Monitor food waste and implement strategies to reduce waste and control costs.

    Team Leadership and Development:

    • Train and mentor kitchen staff to improve skills and maintain performance standards.
    • Conduct staff meetings to address kitchen operations and concerns.

    Event Catering:

    • Plan and prepare meals for special school events, parent meetings, or other school functions as required.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
    • Proven experience in a leadership role in a commercial kitchen, ideally within an educational or institutional setting.
    • Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary requirements, and food allergies.
    • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

    Working Conditions:

    • Flexible working hours may be required, especially during school events.
    • Must adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards at all times.
