    RCCE Research Assistant Consultant

    Breakthrough Action Nigeria (BA-N) is a USAID funded Social Behaviour Change (SBC) and Risk Communication Project with the goal of increasing practice of priority individual and household level health behaviours in target states on MNCH+N, FP, Malaria, Tuberculosis, priority zoonotic diseases; and the COVID-19 response. Firmly grounded in proven practices, Breakthrough ACTION works in partnership with governments, civil society, and communities around the world to implement creative and sustainable SBC programming, nurture SBC champions, mainstream new techniques and technologies, and advocate strategic and sustained investment in SBC.

    Breakthrough ACTION Nigeria supports the development and strengthening of National and State health security capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to threats against their health and safety, working closely with the International Health Regulations (IHR) National Focal Point and National One Health Coordination Unit (NOHCU) for implementation of RCCE-related activities in national policies e.g. One Health Strategic Plan; National Action Plan for Health Security and Joint External Evaluation Report;

    Scope of Work

    The RCCE Consultant will work at the country office to provide required technical and strategic level coordination for GHSA work stream implementation including technical assistance to diverse stakeholders, support for documentation and learning, and Research/Human Centred Design (HCD) activity as it relates to all BA-N Risk Communication and Community Engagement activities.

    Specifically, the consultant will;

    • Review previous implementation processes and strategies to document lessons learned on RCCE for zoonotic diseases and one health; and develop story book, briefs and other communication materials;
    • Serve as focal point for Research/Human Centred Design (HCD) activities including data collection, workshop planning, stakeholder identification and engagement, audience selection e.t.c;
    • Provide administrative support to the different working groups;
    • Work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders at state level to plan, monitor and document activities across all implementation and intervention areas;
    • Other duties as identified and assigned by supervisor and/or Abuja country office program leads

    Minimum Qualifications & Skills

    • Minimum of Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Social Sciences or Health Sciences with 1 - 3 years previous experience carrying out related task is required;
    • Experience with content creation (including developing graphics, animation) etc. is desired;
    • Experience with data collection, processing, and analysis is an added advantage;
    • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with diverse stakeholders and provide administrative support;
    • Ability to use MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for reporting, presentation and data manipulation;
    • Strong communication skills (written & spoken) in the English language and one or more Nigerian language(s) is required;
    • Ability to travel within Nigeria and work successfully within a cross-cultural, multi-sectoral, multi-project team-based environment.

    Period of engagement: 6 months (February 2022 to July 2022)

    Total number of days: 40 – 50 days

    Supervision: Deputy Project Director, Risk Communications

    Number required: One personnel
