    Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Officer

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
    • 2-5 years of experience in a QHSE role, preferably in oil and gas industry.
    • NEBOSH certification is a mandatory requirement.
    • Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 45001: 2018 and ISO 14001:2015 implementation process.
    • Candidates must possess or be actively pursuing QMS certification.
    • Strong knowledge of QHSE management systems and the regulatory requirements.
    • Excellent communication and training skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and QHSE management software.
    • Must be resident in Port Harcourt.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist with and keep record of safety-related accidents and near misses within stipulated time frame.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections, and assessments to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement within the premises and among personnel.
    • Provide support with supervising the installation of potentially harmful equipment and verify that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
    • Assist with carrying out or organizing important safety-related training within the Company.
    • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of QHSE policies and procedures in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards and research on and suggest safety standards and safety policies updating them when as the need arises.
    • Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily work-plan and Issue PPEs when required.
    • Identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions through appropriate line of authority.
    • Ensure all operations comply with company QHSE standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Carry out risk assessments for various projects, processes, and activities, and recommend appropriate control measures.
    • Monitor the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and update risk registers accordingly.
    • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, and provide detailed reports with corrective and preventive actions.
    • Collect, analyze, and report QHSE performance data, including KPIs, incident statistics, and audit results.
    • Identify opportunities for improving QHSE processes and performance, and lead initiatives to implement changes.
    • Develop minutes of meeting and track all outputs from the meeting.
    • Monitor and ensure timely servicing of firefighting equipment and ensure proper storage, labeling and removal of hazardous materials.
