As the Quality Assurance Officer at Pullus Africa, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the consistent production of high-quality, safe poultry products.
This role will oversee all quality control measures throughout the poultry production process, from converting the raw materials to final product packaging and distribution.
The Quality Assurance officer will work closely with the operations, extension, and food safety teams to uphold rigorous quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance programs, including quality control procedures, inspections, and audits
Monitor production processes to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner
Conduct regular testing and analysis of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished poultry products to verify compliance with food safety regulations and internal quality specifications
Document quality control activities and maintain detailed records to demonstrate process control
Carry out research and development exercises to evaluate new technologies, equipment, and processes that can enhance product quality and operational efficiency
Train and supervise staff to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
Serve as the primary point of contact for all quality-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
Stay up-to-date with relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices in poultry production.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
3 - 5 years of experience in a quality assurance or quality control role within the poultry or food processing industry
Thorough understanding of food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and FSMA
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally
Proficiency in data analysis and the use of quality control software
Certified as a PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) is preferred
