    Public Health Specialist

    Purpose of Position

    • Palladium is seeking a Public Health (PH) Specialist to provide strategic, programmatic, and support roles on project activities related to implementing global health security activities within the project. He/She will support the routine disease surveillance and provide clinical expert support for the information systems currently supported by USAID, aligning with the national HIV surveillance guidelines.
    • He/She will support technical assistance to the Nigeria Centers for Disease Control (NCDC), Ministry of Health (FMOH), NASCP, NACA, and implementing partners in the design, implementation, and strengthening of routine disease surveillance and information systems to align with the national disease surveillance plan.
    • The Public Health Specialist will report to the Senior Public Health Surveillance Advisor .

    Primary Duties And Responsibilities

    • Provide expert technical guidance on emerging infectious diseases and GHS strategies, including disease surveillance, outbreak response, and infection prevention and control.
    • Provide technical support in facilitating multisectoral coordination to ensure effective implementation of One Health strategies and other GHS initiatives
    • Contribute to the development of national strategies and policies related to public health, including those for strengthening health systems and managing emergencies.
    • Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of health data to monitor trends, identify risks, and inform decision-making.
    • Provide monthly technical reports of activities, progress, barriers, and success with a plan to address the barriers which will form part of the Data.FI Nigeria monthly report.
    • Other duties assigned as required.

    Required Qualifications

    • A Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
    • Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in international and local settings.
    • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem-solving and initiative to learn new skills.
    • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and provide support.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Working knowledge of the Surveillance Outbreak Response Management and Analysis System (SORMAS), District Health Information Software, version 2 (DHIS2) system, and existing supply chain systems supporting COVID-19 epidemic interventions.
    • Working knowledge of patient-level and aggregate data management systems.
    • Ability to achieve consensus among multiple stakeholders.
    • Skills in data analysis with proficiency in a statistical package.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills in English; ability to communicate technical information to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
