    Principal Investment Analyst

    Background
    Cedar Group, a Nigerian financial services group, is building a healthcare-focused private capital platform to drive the development of the Nigerian healthcare system. The platform provides growth equity to and builds businesses across various segments of the Nigerian healthcare value chain including, but not limited to, hospitals, diagnostic, health insurance and pharmaceutical organisations.

    A Principal Investment Analyst will work with the team across the Investment and Portfolio Operations/Monitoring functions. 


    General Information
    The candidate will join a lean and early-stage team where he/she can have the benefit of taking up significant responsibilities across the entire transaction process from origination, 
    due diligence, structuring and execution of pipelines transactions as well as fundraising. This will provide a steep learning curve for significant personal and professional development as well as the rare opportunity to be a member of a pioneer team reshaping the healthcare 
    ecosystem in Nigeria.
    Responsibilities

    •  Perform comprehensive market and industry analysis as well as analysis of target opportunities
    • Support due diligence of projects and potential investment opportunities
    • Prepare business cases, business plans, investment memos and other investment  documents for deal review
    • Independently build financial models and perform valuation analyses
    • Prepare transaction documents including pitch decks, proposals, investment memos, non-binding and binding offer, share purchase agreements etc.
    • Support the documentation and preparation for an ongoing fundraising process
    • Support in facilitating monthly portfolio review sessions
    • Work with the portfolio team on the day-to-day monitoring and operations of the  portfolio investments, as required
    • Support the execution of value creation initiatives across the different portfolio  investments
    • Provide interim support for the Group’s financial advisory business

    Competencies

    • ​Proficiency in performing complex financial analysis, modelling and valuation including DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis and familiarity with LBOs and merger models
    • Good understanding of the “deal process”
    • Solid presentation and PowerPoint skills
    • Ability to independently drive the preparation of transaction documents
    • Ability to facilitate various aspects of the transaction process with little or no  supervision
    • Previous Investment Banking, PE/VC experience and/or internships (a plus)

    Other Preferences

    • Interest in understanding and/or being a part of the day-to-day workings of business entities and driving value creation
    • Willingness to be a long-term member of the team and commit to quickly taking upresponsibilities over a short period of time.
