OSP Planning and Design Technician at IpNX Nigeria Limited

Job description

• The OSP Planning and Design Technician plays a crucial role in the planning, design, and documentation of fiber optic network infrastructure. This role supports ipNX’s mission of delivering high-quality FTTH services by ensuring designs are accurate, scalable, and aligned with the organization’s strategic growth and quality goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys for planning new FTTH (Fiber to the Home) deployments.
• Prepare low-level and high-level design documents for ODN (Optical Distribution Network) including duct and cabling layouts.
• Estimate project costs and prepare comprehensive Bill of Materials (BoM).
• Design civil and fiber infrastructure for Central Offices and prepare fiber cabling and splice plans.
• Participate in project planning meetings, joint site walk-throughs, and collaborate with roll-out teams and vendors.
• Review as-built drawings and ensure conformity to initial design plans.

Expected Outcomes

• High accuracy in planning and design submissions with minimal revisions required.
• Site surveys completed on schedule with minimal need for revisits.
• Accurate fiber splice plans and BoMs within specified tolerance limits.
• Timely delivery of high-level project descriptions and design packages.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields (field experience may compensate for other academic backgrounds).
• Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Visio) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of FTTH infrastructure and OSP fiber deployment.
• Experience with fiber tools such as OTDR, optical power meters, and splicing equipment.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
