Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accountant to manage the organization's financial records, reporting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management accounts, overseeing statutory compliance, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring adherence to financial policies and controls.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and accounting schedules.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of accounting transactions into the accounting system.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other financial records.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis reports.
- Support management with financial insights for strategic decision-making.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and customer collections.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Company Income Tax requirements.
- Prepare and file statutory returns within stipulated deadlines.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, auditors, and tax authorities as required.
Internal Controls & Audit
- Implement and maintain sound financial controls and accounting procedures.
- Support internal and external audit exercises.
- Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.
Payroll Administration
- Support payroll preparation and ensure accuracy of payroll-related financial records.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and statutory deductions.
Financial Analysis
- Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
- Prepare cash flow reports and monitor organizational liquidity.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree or MBA will be an added advantage.
Professional Certification
- Mandatory: Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA.
- Additional certifications in finance, taxation, or audit will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and audit coordination.
- Prior experience in a corporate or professional services environment is preferred.

- Sound understanding of Nigerian tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills.
