    Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst (NPSA 8)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Under the direct supervision of the Conflict & Political Economy Specialist, the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Analyst will be responsible for the following functions and tasks:

    • Assist in developing and implementing individual and integrated M&E Plans including baseline and end line data to report against project indicators and targets as necessary;
    • Ensure that collection of data and analysis for monitoring the implementation of the complimentary peace building projects is gender sensitive;
    • Monitor progress in achieving project outcomes and provide reporting and evaluation guidance to respective project staff;
    • Provide quality assurance or guidance to the project staff for timely project (semi-annual/annual/final) reporting to the Programme Management Support Unit (PMSU) and donors;
    • Provide quality assurance on results-based reporting and review quarterly, half year, annual and final reports on project implementation and final project evaluation reports;
    • Coordinate tracking the implementation of achievement of the peacebuilding and conflict prevention project results; regularly collecting necessary information related to projects implementation (indicators, results, figures);
    • From an M&E perspective, provide written inputs to the reports which will be reviewed by PMSU before final submission;
    • Provide and coordinate training activities on M&E. Organize project impact monitoring and evaluation trainings and review including independent impact evaluations;
    • Organize and conduct joint field monitoring visits with relevant project staff and partners;
    • Accompany project evaluations and support the final external evaluation of project implementation.

    Institutional Arrangement

    The Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst would be reporting to the Conflict & Political Economy Specialist.

    Required Skills and Experience

    Education:

    • Master's degree in International Development/Relations, Economics, Business Management, Political Science, or other related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Experience:

    • Two years (Bachelor's degree) relevant experience in M&E, Peacebuilding, Conflict Prevention or related fields;
    • Experience in post conflict environment with knowledge of socio-economic, culture, and community development issues in complex crisis situations is a strong advantage;
    • Experience with diverse projects in complex environments, involving multi-disciplinary teams, broad ranges of stakeholders, and within volatile security situations is strongly preferred;
    • Previous working experience with UNDP and other UN agencies 

    Languages:

    • Fluency in written and spoken English is required. The ability to communicate effectively in Hausa, or any other local language spoken in the NW region is an asset.
