Job Description

• M & E Engineer to plan, supervise, and coordinate mechanical and electrical works for building and infrastructure projects.
• The role involves overseeing installation of systems such as building automation, lighting, air-conditioning, and mechanical ventilation, while ensuring work is completed within budget and timeline.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers, and contractors to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
• Conduct site visits to monitor installation progress, inspect workmanship, and troubleshoot issues.
• Design, analyze, and develop mechanical and electrical systems for projects, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical distribution.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of M&E systems and equipment.
• Ensure systems are installed according to design specifications and meet performance standards.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for M&E systems.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all work complies with local regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
• Maintain accurate records of designs, installations, maintenance activities, and equipment manuals.
• Prepare reports on project progress, issues, and recommendations.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess relevant qualifications.
• Proven working experience as an M & E engineer.
• Membership to a professional body (e.g., COREN).
• Proficient in Engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, PROTA STRUCTURE, STAADPRO and Civil 3D).
• Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
• Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Relevant experience in construction projects, preferably with increasing responsibility.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction principles, practices, and regulations.
