    Marketing Manager

    Job Brief

    • Reporting to the Business and Artist Development Manager, Sony Music Entertainment West Africa (SMEWA) you will oversee marketing strategy, planning and execution including social, content strategy and digital advertising across all SMWA repertoire.
    • You will already have some experience owning your own artist campaigns at a front-line label and be familiar with managing marketing projects.
    • You will be a digital native with a digital first approach to campaigns and a deep understanding of developing social and music platforms and the opportunities they offer.
    • You will be working closely with artist management, other Sony Music departments and external agencies.

    Responsibilities
    Creative Strategy:

    • Establish clear campaign objectives & targets for all key stakeholders to adhere to.
    • You will work on both developed and developing artists, collaborating with Label Managers to articulate and direct the artists image, you will oversee and lead on content development, commissioning creative assets and all visuals relating to the campaign

    Marketing and Digital Strategy:

    • You will lead across artist marketing campaigns from concept to execution and deliver against strategic and commercial goals.
    • Develop digital marketing timelines & campaign strategies to successfully grow music streams, downloads, video views, social media engagement, and an overall digital creative vision for SMWA artists and its associated labels.
    • You will work with the Partner Management team to develop and pitch the playlisting strategies to DSPs and maintain relationships with all key accounts and Digital Service Providers (DSPs
    • You will oversee the planning of content marketing, CRM growth strategy, and digital partnership opportunities alongside the digital team and compile editorial calendars for content management purposes across online properties
    • You will work with the Partner Development Manager to develop and execute content ideas that fit and strengthen the marketing campaign.
    • Assist Partner Development Manager in Digital business development
    • You will work with external creative and media agencies for media plans across platforms
    • Define and lead marketing strategy for Catalogue artists releases, compilations, and classical albums across all digital spaces.
    • Ensure audience development and growth with measurable positive online engagement;
    • Social media management

    Project Management:

    • You will be responsible for project timelines, deliverables, delegation of tasks, internal and external stakeholder comms, artist management and post campaign analysis

    Finance:

    • You will be responsible for campaign budgets, coordinating PO and invoice payment, allocation of spend and monitoring of expenditure, P&L targets, budget approvals and project KPIs.
    • You will work with the finance team to plan and forecast during the budgeting process. Maintain a consistent “check book” for all artist digital marketing spends

    Data and analysis:

    • Pre and post campaign analysis, utilizing the data tools that are available at Sony Music. Be naturally curious and work with the analytics team to better understand audiences and continue to expand our artist’s fan bases

    Culture:

    • Be familiar and up to date with music trends, particularly within the music scenes in West Africa
    • Collaborate and build day to day working relationships with labels and commercial teams to ensure excellence and integration of digital strategy across the business.
    • Be informed and curious about technological advancements in the wider media landscape and be creative about how these could be applied to your campaigns.
    • Be aware of the partnership landscape and how brands, distribution channels and media can be used to enhance your artists’ projects. Be connected and willing to continually look for new partnership opportunities for your artists and the label.

    Requirements

    • A Marketing Degree with at least 5 years’ work Experience a record label, music distributor, artist or label services company, artist management company.
    • You have a digital Lifestyle and orientation
    • You will be able to demonstrate experience of leading on and executing end to end marketing campaigns for frontline artists
    • You will have experience in digital campaign strategy and planning in music market, with a thorough understanding of social and digital analytics packages
    • Experience with online advertising and media buying (Facebook, Advertising, AdWords, etc)
    • You will have working knowledge of the digital landscape including but not limited to content planning, social platforms, DSPs, gaming and any other avenues we can leverage for artist success
    • Strong relationship builder, at all levels of the business, with the ability to handle relationships internally and externally with persuasiveness, diplomacy, and tact
    • Highly organised – able to prioritise, organise a varied and full workload and work under pressure, operating with a high degree of autonomy yet accountable for objectives
    • You will have a strong understanding of the inner workings and deliverables required for the life cycle of global music releases, as well as digital distribution, metadata and marketing
    • You are comfortable in hiring & working with third party promo teams & creatives teams / agencies
    • Willing to take a hands-on approach & be ready to execute a wide range of tasks to execute the campaign with an entrepreneurial mentality, with a preference for teamwork and collaboration
    • Innovative and creative thinking with the ability to share ideas, vision and plans with clarity
    • You will have experience managing budgets, allocating spend and monitoring expenditure
    • You will enjoy mentoring and developing junior members of the team
    • You will show versatility and be able to work across different genres, and simultaneous campaigns
    • You will be immersed in culture, and show a genuine passion for music, highly motivated, constantly creative and curious
    • You must have a Driver’s License and be based in Lagos.
