    Librarian

    Requirement

    • Candidates must reside within Amuwo Odofin and environs. (Very Important)
    • Collection Management: Select, acquire, catalog, and classify books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, electronic resources, and other library materials. Develop and maintain a diverse and relevant collection based on the needs and interests of library users.
    • Reference and Information Services: Provide reference assistance to patrons, answering inquiries, helping with research, and guiding users in locating and effectively using library resources. Teach patrons how to access and evaluate information, both in print and digital formats.
    • User Support: Assist library users in navigating library systems, online databases, and other research tools. Offer guidance on utilizing technology, such as computer applications and library equipment. Aid in troubleshooting technical issues and providing basic computer instruction when needed.
    • Library Programming: Plan, coordinate, and promote educational and cultural programs for library users. This may include author talks, book clubs, workshops, children's storytimes, and other community-oriented events. Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to foster partnerships and extend the reach of library services.
    • Information Organization: Maintain accurate and up-to-date cataloging and classification systems to ensure efficient retrieval of library materials. Create and update bibliographic records, metadata, and other relevant information in library management systems. Implement current library standards and best practices.
    • Collection Development: Assess and analyze the library's collection, identifying areas for expansion or removal of materials based on usage, relevance, and patron needs. Stay informed about emerging trends in publishing and information resources to make informed selection decisions.
    • Library Promotion: Develop marketing strategies to increase library usage and promote library services. Utilize various channels, such as social media, newsletters, and community outreach, to raise awareness of library resources, events, and programs.
    • Information Literacy Instruction: Provide instruction on information literacy skills to library users, including research methodologies, critical evaluation of sources, citation guidelines, and ethical use of information. Collaborate with educators to integrate information literacy into school curricula.
    • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties, such as maintaining circulation records, managing budgets for acquisitions and programming, compiling statistical reports, and coordinating interlibrary loan services.
    • Professional Development: Stay updated with current trends, technologies, and best practices in the library field. Engage in professional development activities, attend conferences, participate in workshops, and join relevant library associations.
