We are seeking a professional Hydrologist / Water Service Specialist to join our team on an on-going USAID funded Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH) project in Nigeria.
The objective of this project is to support our Client, The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), in the expansion and improvement of urban WASH service delivery and infrastructure through strengthened governance, increased accountability, and improved financial and technical capabilities of public water utilities and private sector providers.
Duties
Under the guidance of the Team lead and home office, work closely with the team and coordinate with the stakeholders including public water and with other departmental offices Provide technical support and assistance in the planning, development, and implementation of water quality monitoring, of LUWASH.
Conduct reconnaissance visits of all sites; Reporting of site visits.
Assist the team with the preliminary survey and fieldwork monitoring. Coordination and planning of daily activities for the national construction team at the site.
Assess the source hydrology at the intake locations
Prepare the ‘Water Requirements and Availability’ annex at the source level, including a proposal for water distribution from the source to the users.
Assist the team in assessing long-term operation and maintenance requirements.
Assist in preparing reports of water supply throughout the supply network
Contribute to asset maintenance management system implementation.
Assist the WASH Service Delivery Lead and other team members where needed.
Contribute to reporting and compliances as required under the contract.
Any other tasks assigned by the Sheladia home office/ client to ensure smooth project implementation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field with 10 years of experience in the Water sector including 5 years in Urban Water supply and services projects.
Prior experience on donor-funded projects such as USAID/UN/JICA is desirable.
Knowledge of local water/utility services rules and regulations is advantageous.
