    Health Field Officer II

    The Purpose

    • Under the supervision of the Deputy Health Coordinator, the Health Field Officer (HFO) 2 supports the implementation of the ICRC’s health programs and activities in its areas of responsibility (AoR) through regular field trips.
    • In close collaboration with the health coordination, s/he guarantees that people living in the ICRC AoR have timely access to quality health services.
    • S/He maintains an overview on the health situation and proposes timely and coordinated assistance as per the delegation strategy.

    Your Role

    • Understands the health structure/politics and culture in AoR and advises the Health Coordination.
    • Works closely with the Deputy Health coordinator or Health Delegate to plan and implement health activities under their area of responsibilities.
    • Participates in assessment, contributes to preparation of project proposals and reports.
    • Contribute to all health programs in their AoR (PHCC, Hospital Nutrition stabilization centers, PHEC/First Aid).
    • Conducts regular monitoring and supportive supervision visits to the ICRC supported health facilities, identifies and addresses problems in close collaboration with the SMoH staff.
    • Ensures that guidelines, protocols and SoPs related to the supported programs and activities are available and up to date.
    • Ensures rational and appropriate use of supplies (equipment, drugs, consumables, nutrition commodities) as per national standards.
    • Organizes and supports relevant trainings for ICRC supported health facilities staff and target groups from communities in ICRC AoRs.
    • Develops and promotes Health Care in Danger-related initiatives in collaboration with PROT and ensures that Health Care in Danger is included in all trainings and health events.
    • Maintains regular contact and dialogue with relevant interlocutors at State, LGA, and community and conducts quarterly joint monitoring visit with LGA Health/SPHCDB authorities.
    • Ensures proper data collection, analysis, appropriate management of information and reporting.
    • Ensures referral pathway is defined for the ICRC beneficiaries including sexual violence survivors.
    • Collaborate with the ABJ nutrition team to monitor the nutrition situation for children under 5 (6-59 months) and pregnant and lactating women (PLW).
    • Participate in training of health workers and community volunteers (CVs) on different health issues including IYCF, hygiene promotion and malnutrition.
    • Monitors suspected or confirmed Health emergencies including disease outbreaks, malnutrition, and reports to the health coordination and site management.
    • Ensures that drug inventories and orders are completed on time and stocks received in PHC and hospital as required.
    • Understands Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and disseminates in health programs.

    Your Profile
    Certification & Experience:

    • University Degree in Medicine, Nursing or Midwifery
    • Postgraduate master’s degree/diploma in public health or health management is a strong asset.
    • Fluent English and fluent local working language (Hausa).
    • Valid license to practice
    • Good computer skills-MS word, Excel.
    • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in related field, especially in emergencies
    • You must have a valid working permit to work in Nigeria.

    Locations:

    • Abuja Delegation – 2 slots (with frequent travel to Sokoto and possible relocation to Sokoto)
    • BIU Office – 1 slot
    • Maiduguri Sub Delegation – 1 slot.
