    Chief Security Officer

    To ensure the safety and security of all farm personnel, broiler facilities, and assets. This includes planning and implementing security architecture and SOP, monitoring farm operations, and coordinating with external security agencies to safeguard the farm from theft, vandalism, and biosecurity breaches.

    About the role: 

    Security Architecture & Implementation:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive security plans, policies, and procedures to protect the farm’s assets, employees, and livestock.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits of the farm to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
    • Establish and maintain emergency response plans to address security threats or emergencies, such as fire, theft, or biosecurity issues.

    Surveillance & Monitoring:

    • Oversee the installation and monitoring of security systems, such as CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems, to detect and respond to suspicious activities.
    • Manage daily surveillance activities across the farm to ensure that all entry and exit points are secured, including farm gates, poultry houses, feed storage areas, and administrative offices.
    • Coordinate regular patrols to monitor the farm’s perimeter, storage facilities, and other high-risk areas.

    Personnel Management:

    • Supervise, train, and manage the security personnel (guards, watchmen, and other support staff) on the farm.
    • Ensure that security staff are well-equipped, disciplined, and adhering to security protocols.
    • Organize and conduct training sessions for employees on security awareness and emergency response protocols.

    Farm Safety & Biosecurity:

    • Collaborate with the farm’s management and veterinarians to enforce biosecurity measures, ensuring that all vehicles, personnel, and visitors follow farm entry/exit protocols to prevent the spread of diseases.
    • Ensure that appropriate biosecurity equipment (e.g., footbaths, disinfection points) is functioning and adequately supplied.

    Incident Response & Investigation:

    • Lead investigations into security breaches, thefts, property damage, or other security-related incidents, and provide detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
    • Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary and provide evidence or support during investigations.
    • Document all security incidents and maintain accurate records for future reference.

    Crisis Management & Emergency Preparedness:

    • Develop contingency plans to handle various emergencies, such as natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or security breaches.
    • Ensure the farm is prepared for emergencies by organizing drills and coordinating with relevant agencies and farm management.

    Vendor & Visitor Management:

    • Implement strict protocols for managing vendors, contractors, and visitors entering the farm to protect sensitive areas and maintain biosecurity.
    • Monitor and control the entry of delivery trucks, ensuring all vehicles are inspected and documented before entering or exiting the farm.

    Budget & Resource Management:

    • Manage the security department’s budget, including staffing, equipment, and training costs.
    • Ensure the maintenance and repair of security equipment, such as surveillance cameras and alarm systems, and procure new equipment as needed.

    What we are looking for:

    • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminology, or Social/Management Sciences (optional, but preferable).
    • Minimum of 3-5 years in a security leadership role, preferably in an agricultural sector
    • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team of security personnel.
    • Excellent crisis management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
    • Knowledge of local laws related to security, biosecurity, and safety regulations.
    • Ability to use and manage security technology, such as surveillance systems and access control.
    • Effective communication and report writing skills.
    • Prior experience managing security for livestock or poultry operations will be an added advantage.
