Head of Department (Humanities) at TAAS College

Position Overview

• We are seeking a dynamic and experienced educator to lead the Humanities Department. The ideal candidate will have 6–10 years of teaching experience, excellent leadership skills, and a deep passion for fostering student learning and academic excellence in the Humanities.
• The candidate must reside in Ibadan or within the South-West states of Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership:

• Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance teaching and learning in the Humanities Department.
• Monitor and evaluate the curriculum to ensure it meets academic standards and aligns with the school’s vision.
• Mentor and guide teachers to deliver high-quality instruction and improve pedagogical practices.

Teaching and Learning:

• Teach Humanities subjects, including but not limited to History, Literature, and Civic Education, at a high standard.
• Encourage innovative teaching methods and integrate technology into classroom activities.

Team Management:

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Humanities teaching staff.
• Conduct regular departmental meetings to address issues, share ideas, and plan activities.
• Facilitate professional development opportunities for department members.

Student Support:

• Ensure students receive adequate support to achieve their academic potential.
• Organize extracurricular activities, such as debates, quizzes, and literary events, to complement the curriculum.

Administrative Duties:

• Prepare departmental budgets, reports, and presentations.
• Ensure compliance with school policies, educational standards, and government regulations.
• Liaise with parents, guardians, and external stakeholders as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Humanities, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 6–10 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of Humanities subjects and the ability to teach them at various levels.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team of educators.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using educational technology tools and platforms.
• Resides in Ibadan or within the South-West states of Nigeria.
