    Head, Finance & Accounts

           Our client is recruiting to fill the position of Head, Finance & Accounts

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Demonstrate ownership of and communicate the department’s strategic direction and objectives to all staff in the department.
    • Coordinate, direct and supervise the day-to-day activities of the department and ensure alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the Directorate and the Company as a whole.
    • Approve and coordinate the execution of the department's work programs and plans.
    • Monitor control & review of business operations issues as they relate to finance.
    • Manage the design, implementation and maintenance of accounting, reporting requirements and systems to ensure valid, accurate and timely financial and non-financial information.
    • Oversee asset and liability management including planning, design and implementation of measures to protect and maintain assets and preparation of periodic schedules and reports on assets and liabilities.
    • Ensure conformance of all reports to corporate accounting policies and principles.
    • Ensure that company’s trial balance is accurate and up to date to enable prompt preparation of financial statements.
    • Ensure accurate reporting of the company’s OPEX and liability status.
    • Monitor and ensure adequate control over financial administration, expenditure and asset management.
    • Oversee and champion the articulation and development of the Finance directorate strategy and ensure alignment with company’s corporate strategy, business goals and objectives.
    • Provide overall guidance, leadership support and strategic direction in the execution of the Directorate’s functions and activities
    • Authorise expenditure/ transactions in line with the Company’s approved authority limits.
    • Coordinate timely preparation of company’s financial statements, ensuring the statements reflect the Company’s financial position and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Manage risks and returns on company financial resources, constantly seeking to maximise shareholders’ investments.
    • Manage the interface between the Company and external auditors and regulators to ensure the Company’s financial interest is protected.
    • Provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information for strategic decision making.
    • Evolve and implement robust cost management strategies to monitor and control costs, organisation-wide.
    • Coordinate the development of company’s corporate budget, and the allocation/ distribution of financial resources.
    • Periodically review key company’s finance activity and performance reports and take appropriate action to ensure the Company’s business objectives are achieved.
    • Maintain financial responsibility for the Company assets in terms of accounts, valuation, loss protection etc.
    • Develop framework for delegation of authority on financial issues i.e. develop, administer and manage the financial manual of authorities.
    • Enforce corporate governance policies and ensure compliance with financial manual of authorities in corporate financial decision-making.
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key banks and other financial institutions.

            Competency and Skill Requirements

    • Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including international accounting and financial reporting standards.
    • Very good appreciation and knowledge of financial controls and systems.
    • Knowledge of tax principles, local tax regime and legislation and implications to business.
    • Knowledge of oil & gas finance, products and services, systems and interfaces.
    • Good report writing skills and presentation skills
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Good appreciation and working knowledge of MS Office tools

     Professional and Academic Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline
    • Professional accounting certification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or other relevant higher business degree
