    Food Security and Livelihood Officer

    Location: Maiduguri, Borno

    Position Summary

    • We are currently implementing a Child Protection and WASH project in two communities in Maiduguri Municipal Council. In the bid to expand our services to reach more children from our target group, we urgently require skilled individuals to fill the above position.

    We Are Searching For

    • We are looking for a Food Security and Livelihood Officer who will work in Borno state with the prospect of covering other states in the North East Region.
    • Based in Maiduguri, with occasional travel to other locations, the position will be responsible for all FSL activities in the North East region. Part of the duties will include liaising and building strategic alliances with donors, partners and stakeholders in the region.
    • The ideal candidate will be experienced in all aspects of FSL programming and have a good knowledge of working in the North East region. The position will report to the Humanitarian Program Manager.
    • Provide support to the Humanitarian Program Manager in the implementation of Food support, cash transfer and other livelihood activities in targeted communities within the North East region.

    Requirements
    Education Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Law, Political Science and Development Studies.

    Personal Abilities:

    • Languages: fluent in English, Kanuri, Hausa and Shua (additional languages will be a plus)
    • Personal qualities: reliable, honest, very good organizational skills, resistance to stress, capacity to delegate and to manage, ability to take initiative and work autonomously, capacity to prioritise tasks, work under tight deadlines.

    Technical Competences:

    • Professional experience of not less than 2 years in a similar position
    • Training: University degree in Agriculture, Food Security or any related field
    • Experience on cash transfer and voucher payments (paper or electronic voucher)
    • Relevant experience in livestock intervention as an early recovery mechanism
    • Relevant experience on food and non-food items distribution and monitoring
    • Experience in VSLA methodology and monitoring community activities
    • Project-related skills: good knowledge of project cycle, project implementation, project follow-up and reporting
    • IT skills: Word and Excel, Outlook, Design, GIS, data collection and analysis.

    Other Relevant Experiences:

    • Deep understanding of the social, political and conflict dynamics in Nigeria
    • Demonstrated skills of using different conflict analysis frameworks
    • Excellent analytical and writing skills
    • Excellent working knowledge of English
    • Attitude for teamwork and good leadership skill
    • Knowledge in the usage of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis tools
    • Knowledge of early warning systems
    • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards in a diverse workplace
    • Ability to prioritize, plan and organize workflow to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks, and be flexible with changing priorities.
