    Finance Manager

    About the role

    • The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Finance Manager to lead on providing essential financial services to programme operations for GAIN, Nigeria. This role will be offered on a two (2) year fixed term contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Abuja, Nigeria.
    • The Finance Manager will be responsible for safeguarding GAIN’s interest in these transactions and interactions, providing effective first level stewardship of GAIN’s assets and resources.

    Key Responsibilities include.

    • Ensure financial transactions are recorded in line with GAIN norms and standards in timely fashion. Manage organisational funds and maintain financial records in line with GAIN guidelines.
    • Compile financial data for consolidation and preparation of cash flow and fund flow statements.
    • Review and coordinate the monthly closing, ensuring all transactions for the month are recorded accurately and deadlines set by the global finance team are met, and that financial reconciliations and schedules are prepared and presented for approval in line with GAIN’s procedures.
    • Collaborate with the Head of Operations on preparation of programme budgets and forecasts, analysis of grants and expenditure.
    • Support the Head of Operations in the development of costings and budgets for new project development in partnership with programme design and the global finance teams.
    • Maintaining a schedule of financial reporting deadlines to donors, as part of the donor coordination records in close liaison with project staff.
    • Perform follow-up and resolutions for internal and external audit recommendations to improve or enhance the internal control environment.
    • Line manages a number of direct reports including supporting work plan development and performance management.

    About you

    • You should be an experienced and highly organized Finance Manager, ideally with a background working with International NGOs and with good knowledge of managing donor grants e.g. (BMZ, BMGF, DFID, USAID, EU). Experience working with programme departments providing financial operational support is critical. You should have excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, along with strong computer literacy skills, particularly with the MS Office Suite. Familiarity with Salesforce is desirable.
    • In addition, you should be a professionally qualified accountant with at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting and experience working with QuickBooks, Navision or a similar accounting software. Business English is required.
