Field Operations Lines-Man at Phase3 Telecom

Role Description

• This is a full-time on-site role as a Field Operations Lines-Man located in Benin, Aba, Otukpo, Aba, Kano, Shagamu and Kaduna.

Job Description

• Resolve, repair and install fiber optics systems and ensure that they work properly
• Perform Optic Fiber Cable (OFC) stringing and tensioning with appropriate sags in energized circuits (live) withhold-off permit or de-energized circuits (out) with outage permit.
• Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and aerial cabling requirements
• Survey aerial OFC routes, document record of findings and report same to coordinating Field Operations Engineer (FOE) or Regional Supervisor (RS).
• Display understanding on the use of primary fault finding tools (e.g. Optical Power Meter, Source & OTDR).
• Examine and replace faulty and old fiber optic cables and also organize scheduled maintenance routines
• Identifies complex problems on the OFC route, provide technical advice and action for resolution.
• Formulate and maintain fiber records.
• Offer technical support to FOE/RS during emergency repairs and reduce MTTR.
• Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas
• Perform any other task as designated by the Regional Supervisor (RS).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in similar role.
• Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting fiber optic infrastructure
• Knowledge of telecommunications services and network operations
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Relevant certifications in fiber optic technology or telecommunications are a plus
