    Field Coordinators

    Role purpose: 

    • Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Africa seeks 4 Field Coordinators to support TaRL programme activities in the focal state/s. This will cut across mentor and teacher capacity building, measurement and monitoring, community engagement and research and learning at the LGA level.  The role’s primary purpose is to ensure effective delivery of early grades program implementation in the relevant LGA/s.  The role will require someone who is dynamic, creative, good at managing multiple tasks, and passionate about improving the learning outcomes of all children. The position will be based in Kebbi.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    Become an expert in TaRL instruction and support:

    • Work with the TaRL team to develop a deep understanding of the TaRL (early grades) approach and learn techniques for providing instructional support.
    • Practice the TaRL methodology in the classroom to build practical skill-set  and deeper understanding of FLN.

    Build the capacity of instructors and mentors:

    • Support teachers and mentors to deliver effective TaRL classes, including visiting classes, supporting struggling schools, and working with government mentors to build their skills to support teachers.
    • Work with the local government to ensure that review and reflection meetings are organised and attended.

    Facilitate timely collection and collation of assessment and classroom observation data 

    • Support data entry and collation processes.
    • Collect additional process data as is required for programmatic and reporting purposes.

    Try innovative classroom approaches to address challenges that emerge in the classroom.

    • Learn and incubate solutions before they get rolled out to the rest of the pilot. Field Coordinators will be required to identify key challenges in the classroom and try out potential solutions by directly delivering classes.
    • Share lessons from schools with the relevant people.

    Support the development of instructional content for TaRL programs:

    • Review, refine and continually improve teaching and learning resources and techniques which respond to challenges identified through data and experience
    • Reflect on the content and make adjustments as required.
    • Track and document innovative teaching practices across the project

    Engage with School Based Management Committees (SBMCs) 

    • Ensure SBMCs buy-in, understanding, and involvement in the implementation of TaRL
    • Enlist SBMC support in the monitoring of TaRL activities and engagement with parents
    • Work with SBMCs to share learning outcome data and advocate for school attendance.

    Minimum Requirements

    • One (1) year of administrative/coordinator work experience
    • University degree or equivalent in any field;
    • Community engagement experience
    • Good command of written and spoken English and local language.
    • Strong preference for residents within the LGAs or those that can commute daily
    • Language skills: Hausa
    • Experience working in schools or within the education sector is advantageous.
