    Engagement of Cinematographer– Life Skills Lessons

    Restoration of Hope Initiative (ROHI) is a national non-governmental organization with more than five years of experience engaging with conflict-affected communities in North-Eastern Nigeria to address the issues affecting them. From 2015, ROHI has supported over 150,000 vulnerable children to return to school through non-formal and formal education activities in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.

    Background

    Save the Children through UNICEF_GPE funding will meaningfully engage targeted children and youth in life skills programming which teaches Social Emotional Learning (SEL), problem solving, critical thinking, safe practices as well as adaptive, positive behaviors which enable them to deal with challenges of everyday life across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states (BAY States) in Northeast Nigeria.

    The project will engage with states, local governments, community and religious leaders to advocate for their support towards the development and effective implementation of the life skills curriculum across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states. The project is aimed at advancing adolescent children, especially girls in realizing their right to quality basic education through the provision of life skills and SEL. The project is focused on the most vulnerable affected people, including those living with disabilities in the communities, and seeks to improve the abilities of both adolescent girls and boys by building their capacity on life skills and social-emotional learning.

    The project’s targets are 2,000 (45% females, 55 males) teachers, facilitators, and Community volunteers/ SBMC members; and 150 government officials from SUBEBs, MoEs, LGEAs, MORAs, SAMEs, and Head Teachers, SBMC Chairpersons across Borno (Damboa, MMC, Jere, and Konduga LGAs); Adamawa (Hong, Yola North and Yola South LGAs); and Yobe (Damaturu, Fika and Potiskum LGAs).

    The project will allow for life skills video recordings to be uploaded on tablet phones and provided to the teachers and facilitators to improve the teaching of life skills lessons at the various schools of implementation. Teachers who are more knowledgeable on the delivery of life skills lessons will be engaged as “perfect teachers” and will utilize the life skills manual developed by Save the Children in recording different activities from the manual into different episodes in English, Hausa, Kanuri, and Fulfulde languages.

    Specific objectives:

    • Receive and study the already developed life skills manual.
    • Support in the training of teachers towards the recording of life skills episodes.
    • Organise props and sets for the video recording of life skills episodes.
    • Video record life skills episodes differently in English, Hausa, Kanuri, and Fulfulde languages.

    Duration of work

    The duration of the work shall be a maximum of 1 month.

    Eligibility

    Interested applicants must possess the following.

    • A video recording firm with ultra-modern digital gadgets for video and audio capture.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in video and sound production and post-production.
    • Stamina and physical strength.
    • A passion for film and a good eye for detail.
    • Artistic ability and excellent hand-eye coordination.
