    Deputy Chief of Staff

    Reports To: CEO

    Job Description

    • This is a role for a rising star.
    • You are early in your career, you are clearly outgrowing your current seat, and you are looking for the role that puts you a level above where you are today.
    • You will work directly with the CEO on the hardest problems in the company, you will own real outcomes, and you will grow into Chief of Staff on the strength of what you deliver.
    • If you want to build a track record fast, this is the seat.

    The Opportunity

    • Vetsark is scaling, and a growing company needs an execution layer that connects strategy to delivery.
    • The Deputy Chief of Staff is that layer in the making.
    • You will report directly to the CEO, who currently holds the Chief of Staff function, and your job is to take that function over piece by piece as you prove yourself.
    • You will track performance across every team, run the company's operating rhythm, lead the CEO's special projects, and own the documents that raise our capital.
    • Do this well and the title, the authority, and the scope grow with you. This is not a support role.
    • It is the on-ramp to running the company's execution engine.

    What You Will Own

    Special Projects and Project Management:

    • Take the CEO's highest-priority initiatives and run them with real project discipline.
    • Lead special projects from brief to delivery, defining scope, milestones, owners, and timelines.
    • Build and run project plans
    • Coordinate inputs across departments and external partners, keeping every workstream on schedule.

    Performance Tracking and Management:

    • Build the company's visibility into its own performance and drive each function to hit its numbers.
    • Design, track and maintain metrics and management dashboards across Finance, Operations, Sales and Marketing, and Field teams.
    • Run the weekly and monthly performance review cycle, presenting clear insights and recommended actions.
    • Identify trends, variances, and operational gaps, and push to close them.
    • Hold function leads accountable to their targets and to commitments made in reviews.

    Develop Quality Documents:

    • Own the external documents that communicate with partners
    • Develop and refine investor pitch decks, investment memos, and board packs.
    • Research, draft, and submit grant applications, concept notes, and donor reports.
    • Build and maintain financial projections and models: revenue forecasts, unit economics, budgets, and scenarios.
    • Coordinate due diligence: assemble the data room and prepare responses to investor and donor questions.
    • Ensure every external document is accurate, consistent, and investor-ready.

    Execution, Strategy and Operations:

    • Keep the whole company moving in sync and free up the CEO to focus on the highest-value work.
    • Run the company's weekly operating rhythm: agendas, action trackers, escalations, and follow-ups.
    • Drive development of strategy and execution of company priorities across every function, turning decisions into outcomes.
    • Resolve operational issues independently so they do not slow down leadership.
    • Surface risks, conflicts, and gaps early, always with a proposed solution attached.
    • Build the systems, SOPs, and documentation that let Vetsark scale without breaking.

    The Climb

    • This role is designed to grow.
    • As you demonstrate ownership, judgment, and the ability to hold the leadership team accountable, you will take on more of the Chief of Staff mandate.
    • The path is explicit: Deputy Chief of Staff, then Chief of Staff.
    • Your speed up that path is set by your results, not by time served.
    •  We promote on evidence.

    Who You Are

    • You have roughly 3-6 years of experience and a track record of moving up faster than your peers.
    • You may come from consulting, a high-growth startup, or a development or impact organization.
    • You learn fast, you operate above your title, and you have a habit of finding the important problem before anyone hands it to you.
    • You are fluent with numbers: you can read a P&L, interrogate a variance, and build a financial model and pitch deck.
    • You write clearly and follow through without being reminded.
    • You are hungry for the next level and you are willing to earn it.
    • You are not looking to be managed.
    • You are looking to prove you can manage.

    What You Bring

    • Experience: 3-6 years in consulting, strategy, operations, project management, or a high-growth startup.
    • Trajectory: A clear pattern of rapid growth, early promotion, or operating above your level.
    • Numbers: Strong financial literacy: modeling, projections, budgets, and unit economics.
    • Tools: Advanced Excel or Google Sheets, PowerPoint or Canva, and a project management tool.
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce executive-grade documents.
    • Judgment: Sound judgment under ambiguity and a strong bias for action.
    • Confidentiality: Absolute discretion with sensitive financial, investor, and personnel information.
    • Location: Willing to work full-time and on-site in Ajah, Lagos.
