The Business Development Manager Eng. CWA leads a multifunctional team of people towards midterm plan goals, following an aligned strategy. He / She creates a diverse team and inclusive culture in their entity, whilst ensuring alignment to Barry Callebaut’s purpose, strategy, behaviors and values. He / She is overseeing daily business activities, improving overall business functions, managing budgets, developing strategic plans, and communicating business goals. She/He oversees all functional areas within her/his unit and leads the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Leading, directing, and controlling the activities for the English Central & West Africa market, so that it achieves its short and long-term commercial, financial and operating objectives (e.g. increased profitability, productivity, or market share) as set by the overall corporate business plan.
Being responsible for coordination of all local activities in the different areas, in order to realize an efficient cooperation between all departments.
Having margin responsibility, responsible for realizing set margins / turnover as per budget. Ambition to constantly overachieve and go beyond to drive best possible results.
Motivating, coaching and supporting staff to ensure the overall performance of the team and achievement of business goals in a positive working environment.
Establishing and building strong client relationships over time that allow for continuity and ongoing representation, reinforced by sales support/delivery programs, and communications to other relevant company functions/divisions.
Monitoring competitive activity in the region and ensuring that appropriate response strategies are formulated and communicated.
Translating the BC group and the regional strategy into a Business Unit or Market strategy and driving the implementation in the area of responsibility.
Contributing with relevant information and proposals from a functional and local perspective to the regional strategy.
About You
Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or a related field, with 7–10 years of sales and leadership experience in a food-related industry
Experience working in a multinational business environment operating within a matrix organizational structure
Strong implementation skills (hands-on) with the ability to translate strategy and concepts into actionable plans
Willingness to travel across and outside the region (road and air), approximately 60%
Skilled in managing diverse teams across Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, and Sales Support with strong collaboration and influencing capabilities
Demonstrated leadership experience across multiple locations with the ability to navigate and manage cultural diversity
Experienced in performance management, coaching, and developing direct and indirect reports and competent in change management
Proficient in Salesforce, Google Workspace, and MS Office
Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation skills
Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders internally and externally
