    Business Development Manager (Pharmaceutical Sales)

    Job Summary

    • As we expand our reach, we are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager specializing in the sales of pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products.
    • The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our pharmaceutical materials sales division. This role demands a proactive leader who understands the pharmaceutical market landscape and can identify new business opportunities.
    • You will be responsible for building and managing key relationships with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and other industry players, as well as expanding our market share in the sales of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), excipients, and other raw materials.
    • With over five years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, you will spearhead strategies that boost sales performance, develop long-term partnerships, and ensure our products meet the evolving needs of clients across the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Sales Strategy Development:Formulate and implement strategic sales plans that drive growth in the pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products segment.
    • Market Research & Analysis:Conduct in-depth market research to identify industry trends, new opportunities, and potential partnerships, ensuring our offerings remain competitive.
    • Lead Generation & Business Expansion:Identify and pursue new business opportunities by building a robust pipeline of pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and clients within the sector.
    • Client Relationship Management:Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in pharmaceutical companies, ensuring long-term partnerships and customer loyalty.
    • Product Expertise:Provide expert knowledge and guidance on our pharmaceutical materials, helping clients understand how our products meet their specific needs.
    • Contract Negotiation:Lead negotiations on sales contracts, terms, and pricing, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements that maximize profitability and align with company goals.
    • Sales Target Achievement:Meet and exceed sales targets by executing efficient sales strategies, tracking progress, and adapting tactics to market conditions.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration:Work closely with internal teams, including R&D, Production, and Quality Assurance, to ensure alignment between product offerings and market demands.
    • Customer Support:Offer post-sale support to clients, ensuring product satisfaction and maintaining strong business relationships.
    • Reporting & Performance Metrics:Regularly report on sales performance, market trends, and client feedback to senior management, providing insights for continuous improvement.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree:In Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree will be an added advantage.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically focusing on APIs, excipients, and raw materials.
    • Proven Sales Record:Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales targets, particularly in pharmaceutical material sales.
    • Industry Knowledge:Deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements, and the competitive landscape.
    • Communication & Negotiation Skills:Strong interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills to build trust with key stakeholders and close deals.
    • Market Acumen: Ability to assess market needs and adjust strategies to align with industry trends and client demands.
    • Networking & Relationship Building:Established network of contacts within the pharmaceutical sector and a proven ability to develop strong, lasting relationships with clients.
    • Technical Proficiency:Comfortable using CRM systems, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite to track sales performance and manage client interactions.
    • Problem-solving Abilities:Proactive in identifying challenges and opportunities and providing innovative solutions to meet client needs and drive business growth.
    • Travel:Willingness to travel as needed to meet clients, attend industry conferences, and expand market presence.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in pharmaceutical manufacturing or raw material distribution.
    • Familiarity with international pharmaceutical markets, particularly across Africa.
    • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards in the pharmaceutical industry.
