    Associate, Program Delivery and Training (PD&T) - Niger State

    Summary of the Role: 

    • The Program Delivery and Training Associate will support the design and continual improvement of the numeracy, english and Hausa reading components of TaRL interventions in Nigeria. The role will be focused initially on supporting content development and capacity building exercises for TaRL activities. The Program Delivery and Training Associate will work as part of a team who will work hand in hand with the focus state government to improve learning outcomes in the state. The role requires someone passionate about education, dedicated, flexible, solutions-oriented and caring. The position will be based in the focus state with frequent travel within the state. 

    Major roles and responsibilities:

    • Strengthen instructional effectiveness by developing deep expertise in the TaRL approach and using classroom practice to continually enhance instructional support skills.
    • Improve learning materials and methodologies by testing and refining literacy and numeracy content in the classroom and incorporating feedback from teachers, learners and data.
    • Promote innovation in teaching practice by identifying, documenting and sharing successful instructional techniques across the project.
    • Ensure programme coherence and impact by aligning literacy and numeracy components with other programme activities to deliver on programme objectives and workplan commitments.
    • Enhance teacher and mentor capacity by designing and facilitating high-quality trainings and workshops in collaboration with government and internal PD&T teams.
    • Improve instructional delivery in classrooms by providing ongoing coaching and tailored support to teachers and mentors, including lesson planning and adaptation of teaching materials.
    • Maintain high training and mentoring standards by quality-assuring coaching and training delivered by Master Trainers and Teacher Trainer/Mentors.
    • Enable informed decision-making by contributing to timely and accurate technical and programme reports for the Programme Advisory Board.
    • Strengthen stakeholder engagement and collaboration by supporting the management of relationships with key government partners at national, state and LGA levels.
    • Promote effective collaboration within TaRL Africa by building and maintaining strong working relationships with the Central and Nigeria TaRL teams and contributing actively to programme delivery.

    Key Competencies:

    • Expertise in Foundational Learning Methodologies: Deep understanding of the TaRL approach and ability to model high-quality literacy and numeracy instruction.
    • Content Adaptation and Development: Ability to design, test and refine teaching and learning materials based on classroom evidence and learner needs.
    • Training Design and Facilitation: Skill in developing and delivering engaging, learner-centered training and coaching sessions for teachers and mentors.
    • Monitoring and Quality Assurance: Ability to assess the quality of instructional delivery and mentoring, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
    • Data-driven Improvement: Ability to collect, analyse and use classroom data and feedback to inform instructional content and programme decisions.
    • Programme Integration: Ability to align instructional components with broader programme objectives and activities to deliver coherent and effective implementation.
    • Collaboration and Partner Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills to build and sustain productive working relationships with government officials and internal project teams.
    • Communication: Ability to clearly present technical information and good practices to diverse audiences (teachers, mentors, government officials and internal teams).
    • Innovation and Continuous Learning: Openness to new approaches and commitment to improving practice through experimentation and reflection.
    • Problem Solving: Ability to identify instructional challenges and develop practical solutions.
    • Accountability and Dependability: Ability to deliver high-quality outputs on time and follow through on commitments.

    Education and Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Teaching or a related field; A PGDE and/or Master’s degree preferred
    • A minimum of (4) four years’ experience working within the education space.
    • Working knowledge of local curriculum, textbook analysis, instructional practices and assessment tools preferred
    • Good command of written and spoken English
