    Associate Director, Trade & Economic Development

    Job Summary

    KPMG is a leading provider of professional services, which include Advisory, Tax and Audit. KPMG’s International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) Africa is a business unit within KPMG. IDAS helps address challenges faced by the global development community, by working with public sector entities, bilateral and multilateral development agencies, NGOs, philanthropic foundations, and the private sector on a variety of programmes. IDAS in Africa is currently looking for experienced and motivated individuals to support its business development and project delivery efforts across West Africa.

    Job Details

    The successful candidate will lead our trade and economic development pillar, covering trade, the digital economy, SME strengthening, and youth entrepreneurship solutions across West Africa. The individual will be responsible to develop and deliver a portfolio of projects working with major institutional donors focused on resolving trade, economic development, and youth unemployment in the region. The role will require travel across West Africa.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • First degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, ICT, or related field. A post graduate qualification in a relevant field would be essential.
    • At least 15 years’ experience with major international donor institutions working on trade and economic development issues, as well as the digital economy, youth empowerment and MSME development programs, preferably in Africa.
    • At least 5 years of experience supporting the development of the digital economy in a number of African countries.
    • Track record of success in writing proposals and winning engagements.
    • Established relationships and networks with institutional donors with a thematic focus on areas such as trade, economic development, the digital economy, youth and entrepreneurship.

    Skills and Competences

    • Good communication (written and verbal), numeracy, presentation and analytical skills
    • IT proficiency, especially Microsoft Office
    • Team player with leadership capability
    • Excellent coordination and planning skills
