Currently, we are seeking a dynamic person to take on the role of Air Freight (AFR) Manager In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the success of the overall Air Freight operations, who will define, implements, and execute the AFR strategy.
The manager must strive to ensure continuous improvement processes to increase efficiencies, reduce waste, and optimization of production (cost management), and operational and service level quality.
Key Responsibilities
Manages and drives performance of a team of Operations Specialists
Processes, handles, distributes all required documents in the receiving area
Ensures customer requirements are met and takes corrective actions in case of deviations from customer requirements
Ensures documents are completed and updated in a timely and efficient manner and according to regulations and internal procedures
Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required
Attend KPI meetings along with sales. Ensure Operations KPI are met
Organizes, splits, and plans day-to-day work of Import/ Export Operations Specialists
Supervises Transactional Operations in the receiving area (delivery arrangement, planning, and follow-up of shipment in the receiving area)
Ensures handling of required Import documents according to regulations and internal procedures
Follows-up shipment status in the Import area identifies incidents, and ensures resolution of incidents
Supports Customer Service in the incident and exception management resolution
Continuously monitors supplier performance and develops improvement plans when required
Identifies training needs and opportunities to develop a highly-skilled functional department
Creates, builds and maintains relationships with internal functions (e.g. Capacity Management, OCC, Sales, Customer Service) and acts as subject matter expert for ad hoc operational questions with regards to accounts that are being serviced
Ensures that proper implementation of customer has been conducted before Operations is starting regular business service
Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required
Support in customer communications and Shipment update.
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of a University Degree.
Relevant training in the clearing, freight forwarding, or logistics management
Deep knowledge of Airfreight imports and exports operations
Strong analytical skills and good communication skills
Commercial experience/capabilities
Knowledge of the industry and stakeholders - shipping lines, CFS, transporters
Long-term experience and proven record of accomplishment in the customs segment
People management role
High degree of written, verbal and organizational skills
Diligent attention to details
Ability to work under pressure
Strong problem-solving & decision-making skills
Extensive knowledge of Airfreight Import Operations
Good administration skills
Results driven and attention.
