Job Description

• We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Account Officer to join our dynamic finance team. The Account Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and accurate financial operations of the hospital.
• This position requires strong accounting skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and reconcile accounts receivable/payable, including patient billing, insurance/HMO claims, vendor invoices and bank statements.
• Assist with the Preparation of financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) and budget preparation.
• Collaborate with billing department, patient services, and all other departments to resolve billing discrepancies
• Ensure compliance and liasing with statutory bodies(FIRS/RIRS/ITF/NHIA/etc) regulations and ensuring prompt .
• Sound knowledge and Utilizing accounting software (Sage) and Excel for timely reports.
• Assist in all audits both statutory and others.
• Management of Payroll systems
• Handle HMO claims and follow up on outstanding payments
• Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2 - 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS).
• Proficiency in accounting software (Sage) and Microsoft Excel.

Desired Skills:

• Ongoing professional accounting certification (ICAN).
• Experience with hospital billing and coding systems (Sage).
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements(FIRS).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
