    Account Officer

    Summary

    • The Account Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, processing transactions on Sage, and facilitating smooth financial operations between the group of companies.
    • This role involves coordination with internal departments, banks, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely financial reporting and compliance.

    Responsibilities
    Accounting and Financial Records:

    • Prepare and post payables and receivables invoices on Sage
    • Maintain and update the main Cashbook and Cashbook records on both Excel and Sage
    • Prepare and update sales and receivables records
    • Update Admin imprest records and close out postings as required
    • Post insurance, rent appropriations, and statutory expenses accurately.
    • Collate and file financial documents and vouchers, both digitally and in hard copy.
    • Assist in the preparation and sharing of weekly and monthly financial reports with the Head of Finance.
    • Maintain and update the asset register.
    • Support the collation of documents for audits (e.g., FIRS) and bank registrations.
    • Prepare letters to banks for financial transactions.
    • Visit banks for activities such as cash withdrawals, payment of statutory fees (VAT, WHT, PAYE), and document submission.
    • File statutory documents (e.g., VAT and PAYE receipts) appropriately
    • Assist in preparing inventory reports and supporting logistics for deliveries.
    • Coordinate with departments to retrieve supporting documents for expenses.
    • Prepare and share internal communication letters for financial processes.
    • Respond to emails and internal departmental requests.
    • Provide support for account opening processes for new hires or departments.

    Key Competencies and Skills:

    • Proficiency in the use of Excel and accounting software
    • Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws and statutory remittances.
    • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
    • Experience liaising with auditors and regulatory bodies
