Investment Associate at LeapFrog Investments

Job Overview
As an Investment Associate, you will help LeapFrog to source and execute investment opportunities, grow portfolio companies sustainably, and expand the reach of insurance and other essential financial services in our key markets. You will work with the team to assess a range of investment opportunities in the financial services sector in Africa. This activity will include both financial and social analysis, in line with LeapFrog's Profit with Purpose ethos.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluating potential investments including financial, market, industry and strategic analysis;
• Developing financial and valuation models for potential and existing investments;
• Coordinating and executing due diligence in connection with investment evaluations;
• Supporting the preparation of key deal materials including investment memos and term sheets;
• Participating in the development and presentation of investment opportunities and portfolio company updates to the firm's Investment Committee, Partnership group and Africa team.
• Supporting portfolio management, including company performance monitoring and reporting; and
• Assisting in the development and execution of exit strategies in connection with investments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or equivalent degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science or Business Science, in which you excelled academically;
• Over 2 years deal experience in private equity or over 3 years M&A experience in an investment bank or advisory firm
• Strong financial modelling skills;
• Financial modelling experience of banks or insurance is desirous;
• Demonstrated experience in business analysis and/or transaction development;
• Familiarity with financial accounting;
• Comfort with fast-moving, hands-on work environments that span multiple geographies;
• A genuine passion for social impact, aligned to LeapFrog's work and impact in Africa;
• An entrepreneurial, can-do attitude and collaborative mindset;
• Attention to detail, comfort under tight deadlines and superb organisation skills;
• Living in or ready to move to Lagos immediately (may spend 3 months in London or Johannesburg initially);
• Willingness to travel;
