    Health Informatics Officer

    Overview

    • The Health Informatics Officer is responsible for managing DHIS2 for the program.
    • S/he will manage the various modules like dashboards, forms and reports as well as providing technical support for other MSH users of the DHIS2 and its partners at the national and state levels.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Manage the DHIS2 database for the PMI-S project at MSH Abuja
    • Provide technical leadership on management of DHIS2 and integrate DHIS2 into the project business operations following best practices for quality data;
    • Working with the Senior M & E Advisor, provide technical assistance to the NMEP in the revision, use and management of HMIS tools and DHIS2;
    • Conduct a regular check of the completeness and timeliness of state and national malaria data in DHIS2 and flag areas of gap with the states and NMEP;
    • Work with the NMEP and PMI project states to identify and correct any data management gaps and challenges within the DHIS2 system;
    • Support PMI project team members in analyzing and using data from DHIS2;
    • Develop, update, repair and modifies DHIS 2 modules to comply with project requirements;
    • Develop reports to show program performance against target on monthly, quarterly and annual basis for reportable indicators and share with Senior M & E Advisor and the entire project team;
    • Support national and state level DHIS2 users (NMEP, SMEP, LGA) to effectively manage data by developing and sharing user manuals, as well as providing onsite support;
    • Through the Senior M & E Advisor, work closely with other project teams in MSH, both national and international, to achieve effective management of DHIS2 for the project
    • Trains new DHIS 2 users on data management and provide technical support at all levels (NMEP, SMEP and LGAs), as well as provide routine supervision and mentoring to all users;
    • Attend and participate in DHIS2 related meetings, training and field supervision/support.
    • Participate in and support DQA processes at state, LGA and facility levels;
    • Participate in and promote a positive, supportive and cooperative team environment;

    Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Social Science, Medical Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems Technology or a related field. A postgraduate degree is desirable.
    • Minimum of 3 years documented practical DHIS2 implementation experience
    • Experience implementing DHIS2 Tracker
    • Experience with DHIS2 Mobile Applications
    • Experience developing, upgrading and repairing DHIS 2 modules
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in collecting and/or managing public health data on a national level
    • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation practices
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in managing data for malaria programs in Nigeria
    • Familiarity with USAID reporting systems highly desirable, particularly for malaria control
    • Documented experience in training, facilitation and coordination
    • Excellent organizational skills, great attention to detail
    • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and the general public.
    • Excellent communications skills, including writing and oral presentation skills.
    • Must be hard working and skilled in taking on multiple task at the same time while marinating the highest quality achievable;
    • Good analytical, presentation and reporting skills
    • Excellent inter-personal, multi-cultural and team building skills
    • Demonstrated analytical skills and proficiency in using various software and spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel software) and the ability to adapt to and learn new software and other on premise or cloud-based systems and electronic processes.
