Interior Designer at Owens and Xley Consults

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Function of the role

• Produces sketches, drawings, and floor plans to illustrate concepts and finished projects using computer-aided design programs (CAD) and hand-drawing skills
• Define project requirements and schedule and prepare project execution plans
• Produce “sample” and “mood products”
• Creates project budgets, including materials and labor
• Shop for and select pieces and items that complement each other and the surrounding space (such as decor items, paint colors, materials, and pieces of furniture)
• Work within timely schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks through to final project completion
• Undertake design project from concept to completion
• Work closely with designers, decorators, architects and constructors
• Maintains relationships with vendors and outside contractors
• Performs research and maintains a working knowledge of trends, best practices and new developments in the interior design and architecture worlds
• Participates in regular networking opportunities and actively develops a client base.

Requirements

• B.Sc in Architecture /Interior Design
• 3-5 years’ experience in the interior design industry
• Proven working experience in designing, decorating and managing interior spaces (consultations, renovations, space planning and new constructions)
• Expertise in layout, color, lighting, materials selection, custom furniture and all installations
• Creative imagination and eye for design
• Proficient in 3D design software like Sketchup, Lumion, 3DMax and Revit
• Excellent project management skills
• Able to supervise and lead a team
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
