    Clinical Trial Coordinator/Clinician

    Essential requirements:

    • MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification.
    • Part 2 FWACP, equivalent medical qualification or relevant post-graduate degree with significant experience in Clinical Trials.
    • Previous work on clinical trials of vaccines or drugs following GCP requirements.
    • Thorough understanding of GCP and relevant clinical trials regulations (e.g. EMA, FDA etc) and ability to apply and interpret them appropriately to the setting in The Gambia.
    • Practical experience of health research in developing countries.
    • Experience in managing staff.
    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
    • Excellent organisational skills.
    • High degree of attention to detail
    • Enthusiastic and committed team player and team motivator.
    • Commitment to working in a multi-disciplinary team.
    • A flexible and well-organised approach to work and an ability to meet deadlines.
    • Willingness to be on-call and work outside the normal working hours.
    • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).

     

    Desirable:

    • Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Ability to work on databases and statistical packages.
    • Experience of cold-chain management.
    • Experience in recruiting expectant mothers to clinical trials.

    Research Clinician/Obstetrician

    Essential requirements:

    • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
    • FWACOG/MRCOG part 1 or equivalent.
    • Significant ongoing clinical obstetric experience including the ability to undertake and oversee dating scans to establish gestational age.
    • The ability to manage obstetric emergencies and pregnancy related complications.
    • Experience in managing staff.
    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
    • Excellent organisational skills.
    • A flexible and well-organised approach to work and an ability to meet deadlines.
    • Attentiveness to detail.
    • Willingness to be on-call and work outside the normal working hours.

    Desirable:

    • Part 2 FWACOG/MRCOG.
    • Postgraduate qualification (Masters/Doctoral level).
    • Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Experience providing obstetric care in a comparable setting.
    • Previous experience in conducting clinical trials according to ICH-GCP.
    • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).

    Junior Database Developer

    Essential requirements:

    • University Degree in Computer Science or considerable relevant experience.
    • Experience of programming and database system analysis and design.
    • Experience of database design and data normalization.
    • Familiar with different RDBMS such as MS Access, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.
    • Knowledge of writing stored procedures, triggers and database functions.
    • Knowledge of client-server application design and development.
    • Data access using DAO, ADO, ADO.NET, ODBC.

     

    Desirable:

    • Experience of using VBA, VB.NET, ASP.NET, C# and .NET framework.
    • An ability to troubleshoot and resolve database application related problems.
    • Experience of working as a team leader at least for a small group.
    • Knowledge/experience of agile and waterfall methodology for design and development.
    • Experience/knowledge of design and development of mobile application for data collection.
    • Knowledge of EAV data model and applications such as OpenClinica.
    • Experience/Knowledge of distributed database application design.
    • Experience/knowledge of using SharePoint/
    • Some knowledge of installing and resolving issues of open source database applications.
    • Some knowledge of Java.
