    Yard Manager, Marine Works - Expatriate

    Responsibilities

    • The Yard Manager will manage day-to-day yard operations supporting construction and marine works.
    • He will ensure safe, efficient and orderly management of materials, equipment, laydown areas and internal logistics.
    • He will support construction activities by ensuring materials and equipment availability in line with site schedules.

    Yard Operations, Assets and Infrastructure Management:

    • Manage day-to-day yard operations supporting marine and port construction activities.
    • Oversee the operation and maintenance coordination of concrete batching plants, cranes and heavy construction equipment.
    • Ensure optimal availability and utilization of construction assets in line with site requirements.
    • Organize yard layouts, laydown areas and circulation plans to support efficient operations.

    Equipment, Machinery and Workforce Coordination:

    • Coordinate the deployment and scheduling of cranes, lifting equipment and construction machinery.
    • Manage large operational teams, including shift-based organizations of up to 600 personnel.
    • Ensure effective manpower planning, task allocation and supervision across day and night shifts.
    • Coordinate closely with construction and marine teams to align resources with work fronts.

    Material Reception, Storage and Internal Logistics:

    • Supervise the reception, inspection, identification and storage of construction materials.
    • Control material movements within the yard to ensure timely supply to construction areas.
    • Ensure proper storage conditions, traceability and protection of materials and equipment.
    • Interface with logistics, procurement and transport teams to manage inbound and outbound flows.

    HSE, Yard Security and Compliance:

    • Enforce strict compliance with HSE rules, lifting procedures and traffic management plans within the yard.
    • Ensure yard security, access control and safe circulation of personnel, vehicles and equipment.
    • Manage risk prevention measures related to heavy equipment, lifting operations and high-density manpower.
    • Report incidents, near-misses, damages and corrective actions to the Construction Manager.

    Planning, Reporting and Interface Management:

    • Align yard operations with construction schedules and marine operations.
    • Prepare daily and weekly reports on manpower, equipment utilization, production and yard activities.
    • Coordinate yard interfaces with port authorities, subcontractors and logistics providers.
    • Anticipate operational constraints and propose solutions to avoid delays or disruptions.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Logistics, Civil Engineering or related field.
    • 5–10 years of experience in yard management, site logistics or construction support roles on large infrastructure or marine projects.
    • Strong understanding of construction site logistics, material handling and equipment management.
    • Experience working in port or marine construction environments is a strong advantage.
    • Strong safety awareness and experience enforcing HSE rules on site.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple interfaces in a fast-paced construction environment.

    Construction Manager, Marine Works - Expatriate

    Responsibilities

    • Reporting to the Project Manager, the Construction Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution of construction activities on site, ensuring that works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved plans, schedules, quality standards and HSE requirements.
    • The role is strongly site-based, with a focus on construction delivery, supervision and coordination of marine and civil works.

    Construction Execution and Site Management:

    • Supervise all on-site construction activities related to marine works, civil works, dredging and port structures
    • Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements and technical specifications
    • Coordinate daily and weekly construction activities to meet project milestones and schedules
    • Identify site constraints and propose practical solutions to maintain productivity.

    Supervision of Contractors and Subcontractors:

    • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers and site teams across all work fronts
    • Monitor manpower, equipment, productivity and performance on site
    • Ensure proper sequencing of works and effective interface management between trades.

    HSE, Quality and Compliance:

    • Enforce compliance with HSE rules, procedures and site safety plans
    • Ensure construction activities comply with quality requirements, inspection and test plans and international standards
    • Participate in site inspections, audits and toolbox talks
    • Report incidents, non-conformities and corrective actions to the Project Manager.

    Planning, Reporting and Coordination:

    • Support short-term planning, look-ahead schedules and progress tracking
    • Prepare daily and weekly site reports covering progress, manpower, equipment and issues
    • Coordinate closely with engineering, planning, quality and HSE teams

    Interface and Site Coordination:

    • Manage on-site interfaces between marine works, civil works, dredging operations and logistics
    • Coordinate with port authorities, local stakeholders and site representatives for daily operations
    • Ensure permits, access and work areas are properly managed to avoid delays.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering or Construction Management.
    • 7–12 years of experience in construction management on marine, port or coastal infrastructure projects.
    • Hands-on experience in site execution of port structures, quay walls, marine foundations and dredging works.
    • Proven ability to manage subcontractors and multicultural site teams.
    • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and site logistics.
    • Strong safety awareness and experience working under strict HSE frameworks.
    • Experience in Africa or emerging markets is a strong advantage.
