    Trainee Business Development Support Staff

    Job Description

    • This role is designed for a high-potential individual who is eager to learn the commercial side of the construction and engineering industry.
    • The Trainee Business Development Support Staff will work closely with the Business Development Team Lead to identify new opportunities, support the bidding process, and maintain client relationships.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor daily newspapers, government portals, and industry platforms for new Tenders and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Conduct research on potential clients, competitors, and industry trends within the Nigerian construction landscape.
    • Assist in the collation of mandatory corporate documents (COI, Tax Clearance, PenCom, ITF, etc.) for bid submissions.
    • Help organize and package technical and financial proposals to ensure they meet the specific requirements of the client.
    • Help maintain a library of "past project" portfolios and case studies to be used in future bids.
    • Track the status of submitted bids and maintain an organized filing system for all BD activities.
    • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly business development progress reports.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration,or a related field.
    • NYSC members with high aptitude are encouraged to apply.
    • Excellent Writing Skills: Ability to draft clear emails and assist in writing formal proposals.
    • Research Ability: High proficiency in using the internet and professional networks (LinkedIn) to find information.
    • Tech Savviness: Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint for presentations, and Excel for tracking).
    • Attention to Detail: Critical for ensuring that tender documents are submitted without errors.
    • Proactive Attitude: A "self-starter" who doesn't wait to be told what to do next.

    Senior Quantity Surveyor

    Job Description

    • To provide expert commercial and schedule management for large-scale construction and engineering projects.
    • This role involves managing the project budget from inception to final account while developing and monitoring complex project schedules to ensure timely delivery within cost constraints.

    Responsibilities

    • Cost Planning & Estimating: Prepare detailed Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for new tenders.
    • Contract Administration: Review and manage construction contracts, ensuring the company’s commercial interests are protected against liquidated damages or unfavorable clauses.
    • Valuations & Claims: Prepare and submit monthly interim valuations to clients; manage and negotiate variation orders, ensuring all additional works are documented and paid for.
    • Sub-contractor Management: Oversee sub-contractor accounts, from initial procurement and work orders to final account settlement.
    • Cost Control: Perform "Cost-to-Complete" (CTC) analysis and budget vs. actual reconciliations to identify and mitigate potential overspends early.
    • Master Scheduling: Develop comprehensive Project Master Schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, defining the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Critical Path.
    • Progress Monitoring: Track physical progress on-site against the baseline schedule. Identify slippages and develop "Catch-up" plans to bring projects back on track.
    • Resource Leveling: Analyze labor, plant, and material requirements over the project lifecycle to ensure resources are available when needed.
    • Delay Analysis: In the event of project delays, perform Forensic Delay Analysis to support Extension of Time (EoT) claims and protect the company from penalties.
    • Monthly / Weekly Progress Reports: Lead the preparation of integrated monthly reports combining financial health (Cash flow) and schedule health (S-Curves).
    • Risk Management: Maintain a Project Risk Register, identifying commercial and schedule risks and proposing mitigation strategies to the Executive Management.

    Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, or Civil Engineering. A Master's degree is an advantage.
    • Professional Membership: Must be a registered member of NIQS (Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors)
    • Experience: 10–12 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior/lead capacity.
    • Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project, and advanced MS Excel for financial modeling. Familiarity with WinQS or CANDY is a plus.
    • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate firmly with clients and sub-contractors to maintain profit margins.
    • Analytical Mindset: Capacity to interpret complex data from site reports and translate it into financial and schedule forecasts.
