    Research Associate - Upstream

    Job Description

    • We are looking for a Research Associate to join our Global Upstream team in Abuja, Nigeria.  
    • Our dedicated oil and gas sector teams are located around the world, and deliver research and consulting projects based on our assessment and valuation of thousands of individual assets.
    • Together we work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, operators, investment banks and institutional investors.

    About the Role

    • As part of a world-class team of oil and gas experts, you will monitor and assess key events and commercial developments in oil and gas, analysing industry data.
    • You will use this to produce high-quality research in the form of thought-provoking articles, presentations and reports.
    • You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the oil and gas industry.
    • Over time, you will become adept at valuing oil and gas assets, and understand the key issues that inform that valuation.
    • You will also begin to form opinions on corporate strategies, business environment, exploration, M&A deals, petroleum economics, government energy policy and regional geopolitics.
    • Through your research and responding to client queries, you will build relationships and a network of contacts at key companies and bodies.
    • Your contribution to our industry-leading written reports, economic models and presentations will be valued by the team and our clients. You may get the opportunity to travel.
    • You will have a keen eye for quality and take pride in the work that you produce. You will support the team in delivering its weekly and quarterly data sets to our clients and will take an active role in ensuring both the quality and timeliness of the data set.

    Qualifications

    • You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your academic and work experience to date.
    • You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner.
    • You also have a flair for writing and communication.  
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is required.
    • Your long-term aspiration is to be an influential expert setting the industry agenda leveraging off data analytics.

    Senior Analyst - Upstream Oil & Gas

    • We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Upstream Oil & Gas team in Abuja, Nigeria.  Our dedicated oil and gas sector teams are located around the world and deliver research and consulting projects based on our assessment and valuation of thousands of individual assets. 
    • Together, we work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, operators, investment banks and institutional investors.

    About the Role

    • As part of a world-class team of industry experts, you will quickly become adept at valuing oil and gas assets and understand the key issues that inform that valuation. 
    • You will also form opinions on the impact of the energy transition, corporate strategies, business environment, exploration, M&A deals, petroleum economics, government energy policy and regional geopolitics, leveraging our data analytics.
    • Through meetings in Abuja, Lagos and the wider West Africa region, you will build relationships with senior contacts at key companies and bodies. 
    • You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the region’s oil and gas industry. Your knowledge will be highly valued by Wood Mackenzie's clients, with whom you will share your insight via industry-leading written reports, economic models and presentations. 
    • Your contributions will be influential from the beginning. You will be in demand and be able to make a difference as we value high levels of client contact and pride ourselves in answering their questions.

    Qualifications
