    Media & Communications Assistant

    Job Summary

    • FID is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Media & Communications Volunteer to lead the organization’s communication, visibility, and digital content creation efforts.
    • The role requires a creative individual with strong graphic design skills to produce high-quality visuals, social media content, publications, and branding materials.
    • The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Manager, program teams, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging, media engagement, and storytelling that highlight the impact of the organization’s programs.

    Responsibilities
    Content Development & Graphic Design:

    • Design high-quality visual content, including flyers, banners, infographics, reports, social media graphics, and promotional materials.
    • Create branded communication materials aligned with organizational guidelines.
    • Develop multimedia content, including short videos, motion graphics, photo stories, and animations.
    • Support the design and layout of donor reports, presentations, and publications.

    Social Media & Digital Communications:

    • Manage the organization’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
    • Develop and implement a monthly digital content calendar.
    • Create engaging posts, captions, hashtags, and digital campaigns to increase visibility and engagement.
    • Track analytics and performance metrics for continuous improvement.

    Media Relations & Storytelling:

    • Document project activities through high-quality photography and videography.
    • Produce human-interest stories, newsletters, press releases, and success stories.
    • Coordinate media outreach, including radio/TV appearances, press briefings, and interviews.
    • Maintain a database of media contacts and manage media engagement.

    Website & Branding Management:

    • Regularly update and maintain the organization’s website with fresh content, blogs, and announcements.
    • Ensure consistent branding across all platforms and program materials.
    • Support the development and implementation of communication strategies.

    Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain organized archives of photos, videos, designs, and publications.
    • Support monitoring and evaluation (MEAL) teams with documentation for reporting.
    • Contribute to donor visibility compliance and reporting requirements.

    Organizational Support:

    • Provide design support for events, campaigns, workshops, and community engagement activities.
    • Train staff and volunteers on basic photography, storytelling, and branding principles.
    • Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and field missions when required.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Mass Communication, Graphic Design, Media Studies, Journalism, or related field.
    • Professional certifications in graphic design (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva Pro, CorelDRAW) are an added advantage.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in media, communications, or graphic design (NGO experience preferred).
    • Proven portfolio of graphic design work and digital content creation.
    • Experience managing social media platforms for organizations.

    Technical Skill Requirements:

    • Excellent proficiency in graphic design tools:
      • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
      • Canva, CorelDRAW
      • Video editing (Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut, Filmora)
    • Strong storytelling, photography, and videography skills.
    • Ability to write clear, compelling content for media and social platforms.
    • Knowledge of communication strategies, branding, and digital marketing.

    Soft Skills:

    • Creativity and the ability to turn concepts into visually appealing content.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
    • Close attention to detail and good organizational skills.

    Health and Nutrition Program Assistant

    Job Summary

    • Our organization is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Nutrition Program Assistant to support our health and nutrition programs in Borno State.
    • The Health and Nutrition Program Assistant will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of health and nutrition activities under the project.
    • The role ensures quality delivery of community outreach, capacity-building, data collection, and coordination tasks.
    • The successful candidate will work closely with community volunteers, health workers, government stakeholders, and other project team members to improve access to lifesaving health and nutrition services for target populations.

    Key Responsibilities
    Program Implementation:

    • Support the day-to-day implementation of health and nutrition activities in assigned communities.
    • Assist in organizing community sensitization, screening sessions, and nutrition education activities.
    • Coordinate and supervise Community Health Volunteers (CHVs), peer educators, or community mobilizers.
    • Support health facility-based interventions, including MUAC screening, referrals, growth monitoring, IYCF counselling, and follow-up.
    • Ensure adherence to national guidelines for nutrition and primary health care interventions.

    Community Mobilization & Capacity Strengthening:

    • Facilitate community entry, stakeholder engagement, and mobilization for program activities.
    • Assist in the training of CHVs, peer educators, and caregivers on IYCF, nutrition screening, hygiene promotion, and health practices.
    • Provide supportive supervision and mentorship to community structures.

    Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:

    • Collect and compile accurate data on health and nutrition activities using approved tools (e.g., registers, KOBO, ODK).
    • Conduct regular field visits to ensure quality service delivery and compliance with project standards.
    • Support MEAL teams with activity verification, success stories, beneficiary feedback, and monitoring exercises.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports for the Health & Nutrition Officer.

    Coordination & Representation:

    • Maintain regular communication with health facilities, LGA health authorities, and community leaders.
    • Participate in relevant coordination meetings (e.g., Nutrition Sector, Health Coordination).
    • Support supply chain follow-up, including requesting, receiving, and tracking nutrition commodities and IEC materials.

    Safeguarding & Accountability:

    • Ensure adherence to safeguarding and PSEA policies in all program activities.
    • Promote accountability to beneficiaries through feedback mechanisms and inclusive programming.
    • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately following organizational procedures.

    Qualifications /  Experience 
    Education

    • Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Community Health, or related field.

    Experience:

    • At least 1–2 years of experience supporting health or nutrition programming in humanitarian or development settings.
    • Experience working with communities in Northern Nigeria is an added advantage.
    • Hands-on experience in MUAC screening, IYCF counselling, referrals, or primary health care support.

    Technical Skills:

    • Familiarity with national CMAM, IYCF, and Primary Health Care guidelines.
    • Basic data collection and reporting skills (KOBO, ODK, Excel).
    • Ability to conduct community mobilization and training sessions.

    Soft Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Good teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
    • Fluency in English, Hausa, or other local languages is an added advantage.
