The Position
- DRC is seeking a committed and competent Livelihoods Officer to join the Mubi Programme based in Michika. Interested persons will be reporting to the Team Leader.
- The overall purpose of the role is assisting in enhancing the livelihoods of beneficiaries through the provision of business training, business grants support, Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), nutrition activities, beneficiary information and skills training while developing the social cohesion between host community and IDPs.
Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Supporting CVA, SME development and Agricultural Inputs Distributions
- Ensure beneficiaries are screened, selected and verified through use of developed targeting criteria in operational areas.
- Provide livelihood guidance, on an individual or group basis, to increase beneficiaries’ awareness of different business options based on market assessment and beneficiary interests.
- Provide information to beneficiaries about livelihood and business development opportunities.
- Organize small business training and business planning activities with beneficiaries.
- Provide information to beneficiaries on skills trainings, market opportunities, and small enterprise creation.
- Facilitate the implementation of Cash Transfer programmes and ward level; Unconditional/Conditional Cash Grants and Cash for Work
- Work with line manager to plan for business grants distributions, other cash distributions and inputs distributions.
- Business advisory, support and monitoring through guidance from line manager.
- Work closely with government line ministries in the implementation of project activities.
- Support the organization of trainings and other events related to the project.
- Receive and distribute goods dispatched from warehouse and ensure all documentation is accurately completed in an accountable manner.
- Provide administrative support if required.
- Submit weekly reports and contribute to compilation of the monthly report and submit to line manager.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordination of Ward level stakeholders in consultation with line manager.
- Keep abreast of all ward level stakeholders and NGOs working in DRC operational locations.
- Ensure that protocol is followed through stakeholder consultation at all stages of project implementation.
Social Cohesion:
- Work with communities to ensure minimized tensions between IDP, Host Community and Returnees through transparent and consultative implementation approaches.
- Sensitize communities on project objectives, beneficiary selection approaches and timelines to avoid miscommunication on project components, objectives and beneficiaries to benefit.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Work closely with the monitoring team and the Livelihood Officer on the timely monitoring and evaluation of all components – information, beneficiary selection, beneficiary feedback about activities, etc.
- Robust monitoring of beneficiaries who have received the 1st and 2nd tranches of business grants to ensure effective and efficient use of the grant.
- Facilitate the qualitative and quantitative monitoring of the project through team meetings, visits to selected beneficiaries, regular reporting and any other monitoring tools.
- Participate in the internal evaluation of the program.

Experience and Technical Competencies - (include years of experience)
Essential:
- Experience in Livelihood Programming and trainings.
- An understanding of humanitarian context in the North East of Nigeria.
- At least 1 years working experience, in the field of Cash and Voucher Assistance is required
Desirable:
- Previous working experience with humanitarian agencies
- Experience working with displaced populations.
- Experience with case management protocols desirable

- University Degree or advanced training / course in Business Administration, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Humanitarian or related field.

The Position
- DRC is seeking the services of a committed and competent Roving Protection Specialist to join the DRC North East Nigeria.
- The Protection Specialist will support in the implementation, quality control, and coordination of Danish refugee Council (DRC) Protection activities in North East Nigeria.
- The Protection Specialist will be part of the Protection team and will work under the guidance and supervision of Protection Manager.
- She/he will be based in Maiduguri. Protection activities in Nigeria are focused on: individual protection assistance and case management, protection monitoring, psychosocial activities, community-based protection, capacity building and sensitization.
- Protection is mainstreamed throughout all other programme areas (Food security, Livelihoods, WASH and Shelter) and is a key component in programme design.
Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Program management and implementation:
- Follow up on the implementation of project activities at the field level, including appropriate documentation and management of protection cases (recorded incidents), protection concern and case management forms, IPA, and activity reports.
- Ensure that the beneficiary selection criteria is properly implemented.
- Ensure referral pathways are updated and are being utilized.
- Compile monthly donor reports on project activities on a timely manner and share with the Protection Manager.
- Provide hands-on trainings, coaching, mentoring to protection staff, ensuring clarity on protection tools and standards.
- Ensure that a protection risk analysis is in place and constantly updated.
- Identify key advocacy messages and promote dissemination of these within the operational context.
Programme Development and Quality:
- Undertake regular on-site visits to monitor the quality of activity implementation at the LGA-level and provide technical support to the protection assistants and officers.
- Support in developing DRC’s Protection Framework/action plan for North East Nigeria and provide technical assistance to roll it out, in coordination with the Protection Manager and the Regional Protection Coordinator;
- Conduct protection mainstreaming trainings and participate in NFI/Cash/WASH distributions at the field locations on a needs basis.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for further programming, support needs assessments and gap analyses, and contribute to proposals and other programme development initiatives.
- Ensure that the protection risk analysis for North East Nigeria is constantly updated.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning:
- Support planning and ensure that activities are implemented in accordance with project objectives, work plan and budget.
- Analyze and compile protection monitoring report from the team leaders and liaise with the Protection Manager.
- Collaborate & Coordinate with M&E team to ensure monitoring activities are mainstreamed with protection and ensure protection of vulnerable groups while gathering appropriate and accurate data on protection outcomes.
- Ensure protection teams are maintain project data adhering to the highest standards of data protection and confidentiality.
Coordination & Representation:
- In coordination with the Protection Manager, participate in the Protection Sector working group, other protection working group meetings and with relevant line Ministries and stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of developments in the protection environment in Northeast Nigeria and provide timely analysis on key issues on a regular basis.

The Position

- The overall purpose of the role is to facilitate the implementation of DRC’s Food Security and Livelihoods programme in Borno State through liaising with stakeholders and integrating with other departments.
- Support in enhancing the livelihoods of beneficiaries through the provision of information, business skills training, business support, Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), Nutrition trainings and agricultural interventions.
Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Supporting CVA, SME Development, Agricultural Inputs Distributions and Nutrition Activities:
- Ensure beneficiaries are screened, selected and verified through use of developed targeting criteria in operational areas.
- Facilitate the implementation of CVA mainly but not limited to Unconditional Cash Grants, Conditional Cash Grants, Cash for Work, Vouchers and Business Grants in the operational areas through liaison with line manager.
- Ensure monthly cash distributions conducted in the operational areas through ensuring beneficiaries are verified, registered and sensitized.
- Manage cash distribution process and ensure minimum standards are met.
- Facilitate the implementation of agricultural production, small business development, financial inclusion and complementary nutrition programming through liaison with line manager.
- Assist beneficiaries in the establishment of home gardens/poultry production and continued support throughout the project timeframe.
- Work with line manager to plan for agricultural inputs distributions and ensuring inputs distributed accountably.
- Work closely with Ministry of Agriculture Extension workers in facilitating vegetable farming/poultry production trainings for beneficiaries.
- Organize small business training and business planning activities with beneficiaries.
- Provide information to beneficiaries about livelihood and business development opportunities.

- Conduct training and sensitisation activities related to complementary nutrition activities.

- Coordinate in Planning, supervising and monitoring training, awareness and sensitisation activities, including maintenance and verification of all supporting documentation and activities (e.g. pre- and post-tests).
- Support the organization of trainings and other events related to the project.
- Submit weekly reports and contribute to compilation of the monthly report and submit to line manager.
- Assist in Maintaining records of all activities, in order to complete timely reports for DRC and for external actors, including donors.
- Assist the livelihoods Team Leader in project documentation.

Capacity building:

Stakeholder Coordination:
