    Pipeline Project Engineer

    Job Dimensions / Scope:

    • To Lead and manage the safe, cost-effective and timely execution of pipeline intervention works and projects (across all SNG pipeline assets in Nigeria) and ensuring safe transportation and delivery of natural gas to prospective customers in different locations in Eastern & Western Nigeria, including distribution network pipeline to customers and ensure compliance with company Technical, HSES, Commercial and regulatory standards and procedures in the execution of the projects.

    Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    • Minimum Qualification: Any relevant engineering degree
    • Years of Experience: 7 years of experience in project maturation and execution (with good knowledge of Gas downstream projects), including management of at least one major project in a difficult environment
    • IT Tools / Systems: SAP
    • Team Leadership: Ability Leadership skills of a high order, to communicate with and motivate a team in a challenging environment.
    • Teamwork:
    • Communication Skills: Communication and Influencing skills to effectively deal with major contractors, host communities and other stakeholders.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Lead the initiation, planning and execution of project opportunities within the pipeline organization.
    • Facilitate technical, HSSE and commercial direction in the execution of all projects. This comprises design, material procurement, tendering/contract management, site supervision, commissioning and interface management activities
    • Support the effort to develop detailed and comprehensive as-built of each pipeline and pipeline components and also develop as-built of the entire SNG pipeline network.
    • Facilitate project to asset handover process in collaboration with the wider project organization.
    • Liaison with logistics and other teams to ensure availability of all logistics requirements to support successful completion of project.
    • As contract holder (CH) for the projects, exercise responsibilities for all stages of the planning, execution and management of own contracts. Undertake compliance audits to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions and appropriate delivery of all contract deliverables. Working with contract services, review, process and settle all claims and disputes during the execution phase. Ensure proper contract close-out.
    • As budget holder (BH) for project budgets, exercise responsibilities for cost estimating, budget preparation, PPS initiation, commitment and expenditure planning, monitoring, control and reporting, and effective liaison with partners for budget revisions/approvals. Pursue cost leadership initiatives.
    • Liaise and manage interfaces with following key stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of pipeline projects teams, commercial/contract services, procurement, external relations, HSE, Tender Board, host communities, partners, regulators and others as necessary.
    • Lead and/or participate in integrated audit teams contributing own expertise into technical (e.g., HAZOPS, design reviews, etc.,), HSE and business control audits.
    • Participate in development of department's business plans including budget and HSE plans.

    Materials and Corrosion Engineer

    Job Dimensions / Scope:

    • To coordinate and manage the safe, cost-effective and timely execution of Pipelines Integrity Management efforts (PIMS) on all SNG gas pipelines to meet Shell Group pipeline integrity assessment standards and adopting Shell Group Tools to effectively manage and protect the SCE barriers including Performance Standards, Health checks, and Status reporting for all pipeline integrity requirements to ensure adequate transportation and delivery of natural gas to prospective customers in different locations in Eastern, Western and Niger Delta of Nigeria, including distribution network pipeline to customers and ensure compliance with company Technical, HSES and Commercial standards and procedure in the execution of integrity activities.
    • To drive the development of pipeline integrity activities required to meet pipeline business objectives and to ensure that the pipelines can be operated safely without operational leaks.

    Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    • Minimum Qualification: Graduate degree in Metallurgy & Materials Engineering or any other related engineering degree.
    • Years of Experience: 10 years of experience in Corrosion Engineering, Operations and Integrity Management (with good knowledge of Gas downstream pipelines and projects), including previous corrosion experience in pipelines of at least one major pipeline network in a difficult environment.
    • IT Tools / Systems: IMS-PLSS, CMF
    • Team Leadership: Ability to communicate with and motivate a team in a challenging environment.
    • Teamwork:
    • Communication Skills: Communication and Influencing skills to effectively deal with major contractors, host communities and other stakeholders.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Provide technical, HSES and commercial support in the operation and maintenance, execution projects and inspection activities to safeguard and improve the technical integrity and reliability of SNG Pipelines and associated Assets. This comprises:
    • Materials and corrosion engineering support, Pipeline Inspections and Integrity assessments (Incl. Cathodic Protection network and support to routine and ILI Pigging and all associated activities), Inspections to determine modification works and dig-up inspections, CP and coating/insulation and support of rehabilitation works, design, material procurement, tendering/contract management, site supervision, commissioning and interface management activities.
    • Provide technical guidance on positive material verification to relevant industry standards.
    • Develop technical specifications to support projects
    • Primary gatekeeping for available/applied materials for existing pipelines and future pipelines construction and degradation mechanisms (Incl. Prediction, modelling and mitigations of materials degradation for existing pipelines) and materials selection and technical advice for pipelines operations, projects, modifications and maintenance (Incl. Welding and other joining and repair techniques.
    • Conduct internal and external corrosion assessments using approved company tools (e.g., Hydrocorr and Excorr.)
    • Carry out Fitness for Service assessments against a range of degradation mechanisms.
    • Accountable for driving corrosion management framework (CMF) implementation for pipelines.
    • Conduct integrity assessment using company approved tools (IMPS-PLSS)
    • Perform integrity reviews and develop technical reports.
    • Facilitate failure root cause analysis.
    • Facilitate the implementation of corrosion mitigation measures which may include corrosion inhibition, cathodic protection (CP), and coatings, etc.
    • Facilitate troubleshoot of existing CP network and rectify faults to ensure adequate CP protection for all pipelines; Conduct checks on CP system, bond box, ground bed etc., and regulate CP potential post hook-up of solar system at field locations. Conduct instantaneous off-on CP potential survey across for all pipelines across the network and conduct (CIPS) on transmission pipelines. Perform direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) survey for all pipelines, especially in the Western network and carry out isolation joint installation on Pipelines
    • Contribute to the planning of identified repairs and maintenance activities in collaboration with construction teams and oversee pipeline construction activities to obtain measurements and other pipeline data to identify causes of damage and integrity issues and ensure that the pipeline system is safely operated.
    • Check pipelines for damages using tools to look for/investigate potential leaks, corrosion and structural defects and failures that need repair. In addition, carry out detailed analysis of pipelines condition and defects and establish repair methods, plan repairs and maintain the pipeline system while considering possible hazards and regulatory requirements.
    • Identify and support inspection and maintenance team to deploy appropriate CP, coating and IJs surveys and effectiveness.
    • Work with inspection engineers to ensure follow up dig up inspections to confirm reliability of inline inspections and support all technical operations activities including CMF & SRBi for surface facilities, CTS, PRMS, PS, CS, CIGA and CIPHA), Corrosion Inhibitor Injection, Daily Gas dew point analysis, Odorizer Chemical Injection, Asset Management/Inspections, Spares and Inventory Management Support, Logistics and Security Support Requirements in all SNG locations and sites.
    • Liaise and manage interfaces with following key stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of pipeline projects teams, commercial/contract services, procurement, external relations, HSE, Tender Board, host communities, NGC, DPR and others as may be necessary.
    • Participate in integrated audit teams contributing own expertise into technical (e.g., HAZOPS, design reviews, etc.), HSE and business control audits.
    • Monitor development of emerging and evolution of existing pipeline technologies to achieve reduction in life cycle costs and continuous improvement in long-term operational performance.
    • Participate in development of department's business plans including budget and HSE plans.

    Material Cordinator

    Job Dimensions / Scope:

    • Ensure effective planning, forecasting, procurement, and storage of required materials to support pipeline project and remediation activities.
    • This will require consistent consultation and engagement with relevant teams across all operational sites to establish baseline material requirement.

    • Tracking and reporting of delivery timelines and implementing expediting where necessary.
    • May confer with supervisors of other departments to coordinate flow of materials.

    Facility Manager

    Job Dimensions / Scope:

    • The Facility engineer provide integrity support for static equipment inspection throughout company areas of operation (Ogun State, Aba River State and future expansion projects) to ensure all process, utility and associated plants operate safely, efficiently & reliably. Static equipment comprises pressure vessels, boilers, on plot pipework, and relief valves etc.Participates in the final check out of new installations and reliability check for old installations.
    • This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.

    Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    • Minimum Qualification: University degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical & Materials Engineering or related discipline.
    • Years of Experience: 5years Experience in Inspection of static equipment and RBI system for Oil & Gas industries related studies/inspections and study of maintenance strategies. Key competency should be Knowledge of RBI implementation / revalidation. One should be aware of metals and corrosion fundamentals.
    • Knowledge of NDT techniques and their applications and knowledge in engineering aspect of welding.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Steep learning curve to develop skills for various tools is high desirable.
    • Constantly engage with site asset maintenance lead, original equipment manufacturers, vendors and conduct RBI studies in consultation with site maintenance personnel’s/senior RBI engineers.
    • Interact and communicate with the site focal for RBI studies and maintenance strategies, understanding the intricacies about how the actual Inspection activities for static equipment and PSV/PRV have been planned and performed in various Units of Shell.
    • Understanding the functions of the various equipment and instruments and thorough knowledge of reading/ interpreting the engineering drawings (P&IDs, PEFS, PFDs).
    • Managing stakeholders/ representatives of various operating units through effective communication and identifying & resolving the bottlenecks for data analysis, maintaining issue logs and use the same in implementing changes/improvements in the processes.
    • Interact and communicate with the site focal inspection leads for inspection related issues / initiatives / development needs and inspection strategies, understanding the intricacies.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Improve inspection approaches, and better understanding of static equipment integrity to become more dependent on the equipment condition through RBI approach in order to optimize maintenance and inspection plan for static equipment and pipelines
    • Knowledge to carry out corrosion related investigations (RCA) of equipment failures and selection of the required repairs according to API, ASME, other international standard and recommended practice.
    • Ability to develop and implement corrosion management framework
    • Knowledge of RBI and its process to implement in process unit.
    • To take part in risk-based inspection workshops and providing the Material & Corrosion input to the development of corrosion control and inspection strategies and methodologies in line with asset care plans
    • Provide Support to Asset team for integrity of equipment and facilities
    • Capable of providing input for preparing the inspection program.
    • Provide technical support to Plan and manage improvements in inspection Data management
    • Awareness on Data Mining and Analysis: Knowledge of reliability and maintenance data e.g. inspection and corrosion history.
    • Support to plant inspectors by preparing Inspection Plans based on RBI methodology (when, where & how to inspect) and interpretation of inspection findings to guarantee fit for service condition of the equipment
    • Provide recommendation and repair procedures according to API/ASME standards based on inspection findings.
    • Knowledge of metallurgical requirement, material details and identify damage mechanism and compile corrosion manual
    • Proficiency in understanding of PFD/P&ID and define & marking corrosion loops
    • Knowledge of SAP, IMS – PEI and CIMS is required.
    • Review recommends solutions for coating failures and corrosion under insulation
