    Director, Physical Planning and Maintenance

    Job Description

    • The Director, Physical Planning and Maintenance is the Head of the Department of Physical Planning and Maintenance and a member of the Management. 
    • He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for running the affairs of the Department. 
    • He/she performs such other functions as prescribed by the University Schedules of Duty and other extant regulations.

    Requirements
    Candidates seeking to apply for the post of Director, Physical Planning and Maintenance must strictly satisfy the following conditions:

    • He/she must possess a good B.Sc. or B.Eng. Degree in any of the following: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or any other equivalent degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of a 2nd Class Lower Degree,
    • plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or evidence of exemption.
    • The candidate must be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications as applicable in running a modern Physical Planning Directorate.
    • The candidate must also possess professional qualifications.

    The Tenure:

    • The Director, Physical Planning and Maintenance shall hold office for a term of two (2) years.

    Remuneration and Conditions of Service

    • The remuneration and conditions of service for the posts shall be as prescribed by the extant laws of the University and  as may be determined by the government and the Governing Council from time to time.

    Vice-Chancellor

    The Position

    • The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University, ex- officio Chairman of the Senate and Member of the Governing Council of the University.

    In addition to his other functions, the vice-president shall:

    • Be competent at all times to advise the Governing Council on any matter affecting the policy, finance, and administration of the University
    • Be generally responsible to the Governing Council for maintaining the efficiency and good order of the University and for ensuring the proper enforcement of Statutes. Ordinances and Regulations
    • Be responsible for discipline in the University
    • Regulate admission of students in accordance with the guidelines and procedures approved by the Senate.

    Qualifications
    Interested candidates for the position of Vice- Chancellor, Sokoto State University, Sokoto, are expected to be:

    • Distinguished scholars who are Professors with demonstrated ability to provide exemplary academic leadership and proven managerial capacity.
    • Scholars of the highest moral standards and impeccable character and proven integrity with irrevocable commitment to best practices in corporate governance, with particular emphasis on accountability, transparency and probity, and must be scholars who can ensure optimum utilization of scarce resources for maximum public good. 
    • Scholars with irrevocable commitment to the cardinal values of merit, consistency and faimess as operating principles and who can apply these across the board without succumbing to sociopolitical pressure, in particular, and must not cave in under societal pressures out of the desire to remain in office.
    • Scholars who are Information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficient, committed to the mainstreaming of ICT into University wide programmes and activities.
    • Scholars who will be able to attract research grants and complementary funds from local and international agencies, and further uplift the academic stature of the University.
    • Scholars with capacity to relate effectively and productively with the government, non-govemment agencies, the Alumni, staff unions, the local community and foster linkages with institutions within and outside Nigeria. 
    • Scholars with moral uprightness, who are not likely to foster personal, racial, ethnic, political, religious or other sectional interest and who are also capable of inspiring the members of University community towards the attainment of its goals.
    • Scholars with good understanding of the Vision and Mission of the University.
    • Scholars who, judging from their tract records, are likely to command the respect as well as loyalty of members of staff, students and University community. 
    • Persons who enjoy excellent, physical and mental health, and should not be more than 60 years at the time of assumption of duty.

    Conditions of Service

    • The Vice-Chancellor shall serve for a single- term of five (5) years only on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment. 
    • The salary and Conditions of Service are as applicable to the post obtained in Nigerian State Universities as approved by the Sokoto State Government and the Governing Council of the University from time to time.

    Chief Security Coordinator

    Job Description

    • The Chief Security Coordinator is the Head of the Security Department. 
    • He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for running the security affairs of the University. 
    • He/she performs such other functions as prescribed by the University Schedules of Duty and other extant regulations.

    Requirements
    Candidates seeking to apply for the post of Chief Security Coordinator must strictly satisfy the following conditions:

    • He/she must possess a good B.Sc. Degree or any other equivalent degree from a recognized institution, plus NYSC Discharged Certificate or evidence of exemption.
    • The candidate must be proficient in the use of Information and Communication Technology.
    • The candidate must have at least 10 years of security background, having previously served in a security or law enforcement agency and risen to the rank of Captain in the Nigerian Army or an equivalent position.
    • He/she must also show evidence of consummate management and leadership passion and drive in previous positions and must possess excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
    • He/she must exhibit the ability to be a team leader with clear mentorship skills and should not be older than sixty (60) years.
    • He/she must have strong physical and mental ability to discharge his duties.
    • He/she must possess personal integrity, demonstrate transparency in private and public life, and be able to command respect and loyalty from staff, students, and other members of the University.

    Director, Health Services

    Job Description

    • The Director, Health Services is the Head of the Department of Health Services.
    • He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for running the affairs of the Department. 
    • He/she performs such other functions as prescribed by the University Schedules of Duty and other extant regulations.

    Requirements

    Candidates seeking to apply for the post of Director, Health Services at the University must strictly satisfy the following conditions:

    • He/she must possess a good MBBS Degree or any other equivalent degree from a recognized institution, plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or evidence of exemption.
    • The candidate must be proficient in the use of Information and Communication Technology.
    • The candidate must also possess a professionally recognized certificate with a current practicing license. In addition, the candidate must have at least ten (10) years of relevant working experience in a senior management position, preferably in a public health institution.
    • He/she must show evidence of management and leadership passion and drive in previous positions, and must possess excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
    • He/she must exhibit the ability to be a team leader with clear mentorship skills, and should not be older than sixty (60) years.
    • He/she must have strong physical and mental ability to discharge their duties.

    • The Director, Health Services shall hold office for a term of two (2) years.
