    Communication Associate

    Key Responsibilities include.

    • Deliver regular programming content i.e. interviews, podcasts, opinion pieces and related content and placing these pieces in top media outlets in Nigeria.
    •  Identify key opportunities to profile country leadership in relevant convening settings i.e., as speakers in events or webinars or networks of local organisations.
    • Monitor media coverage in-country, undertaking perception studies, and support to manage reputational threats as they occur.
    • Support roll-out of media plans for public and media outreach ensuring messaging is consistent with GAIN Nigeria brand.
    • Work closely with GAIN’s project teams and travel regularly to the field to deliver compelling content and imagery for both local and global audiences, showcasing GAIN’s work in Nigeria and impact in addressing malnutrition.
    • Strengthen and position the digital communication at country level through targeted digital engagement by ensuring that the GAIN Nigeria’s digital media platforms are well maintained, updated, and aligned to GAIN corporate digital communications.
    • Populate and deliver quality audio-visual services and when needed, commission external vendors to ensure we have availability of quality multimedia tools such as photos, infographics, and videos.
    • Keep up with digital changes and identifying areas for improvements using pictures, infographics, tell better stories, and creating a fast but lasting impact.
    • Support in end-to-end event management and coordination of key high-level events.

    About you

    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate understanding of communication strategy, with experience coordinating both internal and external communications. They should have a proven track record in media promotion within the development or private sector, along with the ability to create a wide range of communication materials, including reports, fact sheets, news stories, articles, features, and case studies. Proficiency in social media, graphic design, photography, videography, and interactive digital media is also required.
    • Additionally, the candidate should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments. They should be skilled at translating complex and technical information into clear, audience-appropriate content, and capable of simplifying detailed material into concise, engaging messages. A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams and adapt flexibly to changing priorities, is essential.

    Senior Associate, Policy Engagement

    Key Responsibilities include.

    • Coordinate state-level policy engagement to advance nutrition and food systems priorities, working directly with State Ministries, State Houses of Assembly, and relevant agencies.
    • Manage partnerships at state level, maintaining relationships with government, development partners, civil society, academia, and private sector actors.
    • Represent GAIN in key technical and policy forums, identify collaboration opportunities, and support alignment between state actions and national or global commitments.
    • Provide technical input into state policies, sector strategies, and planning frameworks to ensure alignment with national commitments and global frameworks, while identifying strategic entry points for reform and influencing policy processes through evidence-based advocacy.
    • Support in strengthening multisectoral coordination by supporting state governance platforms such as the State Committee on Food and Nutrition and facilitating cross-sector collaboration across agriculture, health, planning, and social protection. This includes promoting policy coherence, institutionalizing coordination mechanisms, and reinforcing accountability structures for implementation.
    • Contribute to drafting reports, policy papers and briefs, factsheets and other documents which synthesize GAIN learnings, values, and priorities.

    About you

    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of food and nutrition security policy issues, with the ability to critically analyse policy debates and translate insights into well-structured papers.
    • The candidate should also possess practical experience in conducting desk research, literature reviews, and broader research analysis, and be able to synthesize complex findings into clear, compelling narratives, including position papers and policy briefs.
    • The candidate should demonstrate experience in policy research and communication within an advocacy or action-oriented environment, such as an NGO, government agency, or policy institution with a solid understanding of health and food systems.
    • Strong experience leading stakeholder engagement at state level is mandatory to succeed in this role. You should be a self-driven individual who can operate autonomously with accountability.
