    Payroll Officer

    PURPOSE

    To manage and process employee salaries and wages, ensuring accurate and timely payments while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.

    THE JOB

    • Calculate and process employee salaries, wages, and other compensation, including allowances, bonuses and overtime.
    • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to payroll, such as incorrect payments or tax calculation.
    • Accurately calculate and withhold relevant taxes, as well as other deductions like Pension, Cooperative, Dues & Levies and other required deductions.
    • Ensure payroll processes and practices comply with all applicable labor laws and regulations.
    • Conduct own audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of payroll records and processes.
    • Responsible for timely and accurate posting of payroll journals.

    THE PERSON MUST

    • Have a good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Have excellent knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and practices.
    • Possess strong numerical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
    • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other payroll/HR software.
    • Have a good understanding of labor laws, tax regulations, pensions, and statutory deductions.
    • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve discrepancies.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional Certification will be an added advantage.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in payroll processing or a related HR/finance role.

    Payroll Manager

    PURPOSE

    To oversee and supervise the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while adhering to all legal and company policies and vertical peculiarities.

    THE JOB

    • Managing the entire payroll cycle, including calculating salaries, overtime, deductions, and ensuring accurate and timely payments.
    • Supervise and guide the payroll team, delegating tasks, providing training, and conducting performance reviews.
    • Work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and ensure seamless data exchange.
    • Adept at utilizing and maintaining payroll software and systems, including updates and data integrity.
    • Prepare and generate payroll reports, journals and financial statements for relevant departments, as well as providing data for audits and other compliance purposes.

    THE PERSON MUST

    • Have a good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, statutory deductions, and compliance regulations.
    • Excellent leadership and people management skills to supervise, mentor, and evaluate payroll staff.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive payroll data and financial transactions.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 5–7 years of payroll experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial payroll role.

    Payroll Officer - Statutory Remittances

    PURPOSE

    To manage employee-related statutory deductions and remittances, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Nigerian regulatory standards in alignment with company policies.

    THE JOB

    • Calculate and process payroll statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, ITF).
    • Ensure accurate and timely remittance to statutory bodies and third-party institutions related to payroll.
    • Maintain up-to-date payroll statutory remittance schedules and ensure compliance with deadlines.
    • Collaborate with payroll and finance teams to validate statutory payment files.
    • Reconcile payroll statutory accounts monthly with finance and resolve discrepancies.
    • Prepare payroll statutory reports and documentation for audits and inspections.
    • Stay informed of changes in statutory payroll regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
    • Assist in preparing monthly payroll payment summaries and approvals.
    • Support documentation and filing of payroll-related remittance proofs.
    • Manage relationships with statutory bodies and ensure professional communication

    THE PERSON MUST

    • Have a good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Have strong knowledge of Nigerian statutory payroll regulations (PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, ITF, etc.).
