    Internal Auditor - Head of Department

    Job Description

    • Examining, reviewing and analyzing records, reports, financial statements and management practices to ensure adequate internal controls are in place to mitigate risks in compliance with laws, regulations, donor requirements and AAH policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities
    Key activities in your role will include:

    • Prepare and perform internal audits (in accordance with general audit requirements and standards) in the Nigerian Mission.
    • Works closely with the Finance, HR and logistics teams in the mission to develop the organization’s understanding of the importance of the internal audit function.
    • Train and support the Finance, HR and logistics teams in the mission to ensure that audits are conducted thoroughly and efficiently.
    • Assess the significance of risks & problems identified during each audit.
    • For each audit, prepare an audit report containing a summary & analysis of the situation, a presentation of any identified mistakes and inconsistencies, and recommendations for improvements.
    • Perform internal control reviews of in-country processes including cash management, procurement, logistics, and stock management including food commodities, assets management and coordinate with the relevant departments to correct weaknesses and improve controls as needed; prepare action plans to address findings and monitor the status of action plan implementation.
    • Prepare a Country Office Risk Register in conjunction with program managers and ensure quarterly updates.
    • In coordination with country management and HQ finance, assist with the follow-up and resolution of external audit or AAH Internal Audit findings.
    • Conduct regular anti-corruption and fraud prevention trainings to all staff.
    • Serve as country focal point for the internal reporting of any incidents of fraud, corruption or bribery.
    • Prepare and maintain the Country Office fraud Register and Dashboard and liaise with Internal Auditor in the resolution of all reported incidents.

    • You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related business field is required; Certified Public Accountant is an added advantage.
    • You have 5 years related work experience with a not-for-profit organization.
    • You have Extensive knowledge of donor rules and regulations including USAID, ECHO, DFID, etc
    • You have Considerable knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing, accounting and management principles and practices.
    • You have Knowledge of contemporary risk management and internal control practices. Knowledge of non-profit program policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
    • You have Strong skills in conducting quality control reviews of audit work product. Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
    • You have excellent critical thinking, superior problem solving skills and ability to use good judgment when making difficult decisions.
    • You are familiar with common indicators of fraud.
    • You have the ability to be flexible, yet focused and reliable, in a work environment with frequently changing demands and circumstances.
    • You have the ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere, encouraging colleagues to contribute to common work challenges and deadlines.
    • You think strategically defining and communicating goals, also being genuinely committed to helping others to achieve the organizational objectives.
    • Fluent written and oral communication in English.
    • Fluency in Hausa and French is desirable.

    Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Officer

    Location: Monguno, Borno

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Monguno, Borno state and work under the supervision of the Sector Manager - Nutrition. The IYCF Officer is required to directly implement nutrition activities at the community.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Conduct capacity assessment of health facilities: baseline, progress and end line and to come up with reports of the same.
    • Identify issues/problems and solutions as a result of the capacity assessment and progress assessment and in collaboration with the PM adequately implement solutions in order to resolve problems.
    • Conduct rapid/detailed assessment of Infant and Young Child feeding practices in mothers/care givers at mobile clinics.
    • Provide personalized IYCF counselling sessions to pregnant women for the preparation of breastfeeding and colostrum feeding and all mothers with children under 24 months.
    • Ensure proper maintenance of IYCF integration with all CMAM components.
    • Conduct Simple Rapid Assessment (SRA) of all mothers with children under 24 months that attend the OTP/SFP programme through the local Mobile clinics.
    • Identify training needs of Health workers and Community Volunteers attached to facilities as well as conducting theoretical trainings if necessary followed by On Job Training (OJT).
    • Conduct detailed assessment of child feeding practices in women that require additional support or reveal difficulties.
    • Aid in establishing mother to mother support groups (Community Health Groups – CHGs) within the community to provide additional support for mothers and extend knowledge of good IYCF practices.
    • Play an active role on advocacy to promote proper IYCF practices, antenatal and post-natal checkups, importance of institutional deliveries, vaccination and growth monitoring.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Health, Nutrition, Nursing or related field. Higher level degree preferred
    • Have a minimum of 2 years working experience in humanitarian contexts, with at least 1 year in conflict/insecure contexts including CMAM, IYCF and community mobilization.
    • Have the ability and willingness to frequently travel to villages and stay at the field
    • Have the willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult working conditions.
    • Have the capacity to supervise and coach health workers.
    • Have excellent team, budget and project management and representation competencies.
    • Be proficient in statistics and other softwares (Microsoft Office package, SPSS, SPHINX, STATA, EPI Info, ENA for SMART, GIS, etc.)
    • Be proficient with local languages (Kanuri, Fulani, Hausa).
    • Have previous NGO experience managing mobilization in different interventions (i.e. cash transfers, WASH, Nutrition).

    PHP & NFI Assistant

    Location: Monguno, Borno

    Job Summary

    • This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the PHP & NFI Officer
    • The PHP & NFI Assistant is required to work closely with the PHP & NFI Officer in the implementation of hygiene promotion related activities and non-food items distribution to affected populations.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Organize hygiene promotion awareness raising sessions though emergency hygiene session or through PHAST, CHAST and CLTS methodologies.
    • Mobilize communities to adopt safe hygiene practices as promoted by the project (latrine construction, hand washing facilities, environmental cleanliness).
    • Assist the PHP officer in conducting training sessions for the community workers/volunteer and/or targeted populations.
    • Assist the PHP officer in preparing training modules for the promotion of hygiene in the communities.
    • Assist the PHP officer in developing teaching tools adapted to different audiences: songs, role games, meetings, and training courses.

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of an OND in Public Health, Social Science and other related fields.
    • At least 1 year relevant working experience in supervising hygiene promotion and community mobilization activities in the humanitarian sector.
    • Professional, good organizational capacity and motivated.
    • Capacity to be adaptable and flexible.
    • Microsoft Office and designing software Skills (Excel, Power Point, Word)
    • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
    • Fluency in Hausa, Kanuri and English.
    • Commitment to Action Against Hunger mission, values and policy.
