    Medical Doctor

    Main Purpose of the position

    • Provide outpatient and / or inpatient medical care to patients / beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients / beneficiaries health conditions.

    General Accountabilities

    • Provide outpatient and inpatient consultations, diagnose, and prescribe treatments per MSF protocols.
    • Monitor patient progress and ensure proper medical resource management.
    • Supervise and train a multidisciplinary medical team.
    • Ensure adherence to hygiene standards and infection control measures.
    • Collect and analyze epidemiological data, reporting issues promptly.
    • Maintain professional confidentiality at all times.
    • Organize and schedule team shifts, participating in emergencies when needed.
    • Ensure quality care and adherence to MSF medical protocols.

    MSF Specific / Context Accountability

    • Manage patients at the Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC) in Sokoto Specialist Hospital, collaborating with MoH and MSF teams.
    • Treat and prevent complications of Severe and Moderate Acute Malnutrition, adhering to MSF protocols.
    • Conduct inpatient and outpatient consultations, ensuring daily ward rounds and quality care.
    • Participate in mortality reviews, quality improvement, and nutrition assessments.
    • Supervise and train the medical team, ensuring ongoing capacity building.
    • Collaborate with MoH on patient care and referral to specialist hospitals.
    • Educate patients and families on nutritional care and treatment plans.
    • Ensure accurate patient data collection and timely reporting.
    • Prepare monthly reports and participate in meetings with stakeholders.
    • Follow IPC protocols, ensure universal precautions, and manage medical incidents.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    • Education
    • Medical Doctor(MBBS), Diploma in Tropical Medicine an added advantage
    • Experience
    • 2 year experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work
    • Minimum one year of experience in any Nutritional Programme
    • ITFC experience is an asset.

    Languages:

    • Mission language essential. Local language is desirable

    Knowledge:

    • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)

    Competencies:

    Storekeeper

    Description

    • Executing the stock management activities (receipt, storage, and issuance to projects or other depart-ments of medical supplies, food items, spare parts, tools, equipment and/ or other logistics materials), according to the line manager’s instructions and MSF standards and protocols, in order to ensure the overall functioning of MSF activities

    Responsibilities

    • Supervising materials and goods orders and dispatch in order to ensure its rational use.
    • Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying and reporting potential discrepancies against cargo manifest or others. Stores materials in accordance with the system in force in order to ensure continuous availability.
    • Updating and/or creating stock cards for all stock items immediately after reception of goods.
    • Storing materials in accordance with the system in force in order to ensure continuous availability ensuring that all items are well organised and correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, security, access, etc.).
    • Monitoring the store temperature and ensuring items are stored in an adequate temperature. Keeping a special control of “sensitive” and dangerous goods: numbers of lots, expiry dates, packaging and special storage conditions
    • Preparing orders on time before sending goods, and packs (according to transport means) weighs and labels freight with corresponding shipping number, destination, number of shipping units, way bill number, weight and mode of transport in accordance with the line manager’s instructions
    • In conjunction with the line manager, performing physical stock counts in accordance with the frequency previously defined. Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out and expiry dates.
    • Controlling warehouse limited access to authorized personnel only and ensuring doors and other exits are secured. Immediately informing the line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the warehouse
    • Assisting the line manager with preparation of the stock reports
    • Following up stock management on the ERP tool (UniField), by receiving incoming shipments, and its subsequent picking, packing and shipping to Project locations.
    • Controlling the activities of daily workers and ensure request for such is adequately justified.
    • Cover the gap in the absence of the warehouse supervisor.
    • Initiate stock replenishment to line manager on agreed schedule and ensure follow-up on reception. Update and report to line managers on conditions of received item.
    • Ensure the invoice quantity, purchase order and physically received items match.
    • Support in preparing monthly stock report using the organization tool and submit to the line manager on whenever required.
    • Inform line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the warehouse.
    • Show flexibility in the development of tasks.
    • Supporting on supplementary activities related to MSF OCA operations.

    Requirements
    Educational Qualification and Experience:

    • University Degree/Diploma in Warehouse & Supply Management or any related Studies
    • Previous experience as storekeeper is essesntial

    Languages:

    • Good command of English language is essential; Local language desirable

    Knowledge:

    • Essential basic mathematics and use of measuring equipment
    • Computer literacy (Ms word and excel) is essential.
    • Ability to carry out basic repairs is desirable

    Laboratory Technician

    Job Description

    • Perform clinical laboratory activities according to MSF protocols, security, and hygiene measures to obtain results that determine the patient’s treatment.

    Responsibilities

    • According to medical prescription, prepare and perform clinical exams/tests with appropriate techniques, following MSF protocols and procedures.
    • This function includes, among others:
    • Taking blood, vaginal, and urethral samples.
    • Centrifuging blood and urine samples.
    • Performing laboratory exams (serology, hematology, biochemistry, bacteriology, or parasitological, according to the context of the mission).
    • Ensuring proper reporting and registration of the sample results to maintain a written track of activity and provide information to the relevant persons, ensuring confidentiality.
    • Taking care of, managing, and efficiently organizing the laboratory material/equipment.
    • Performing cleaning and minor maintenance of biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alerting the supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
    • Applying hygiene and safety protocols, including daily cleaning/maintenance, sterilization, and washing general glassware after procedures are completed.
    • Ensuring proper sample waste disposal according to MSF protocols and the highest safety standards.
    • Supplying orders, conducting stock checks, following up on storage conditions, and keeping inventory.
    • Keeping the data collection system of laboratory results and all information generated from the analysis organized.
    • Reporting all relevant information linked to laboratory activity to the line manager, especially the loss/robbery/damage of laboratory equipment or medicines.
    • Performing minor maintenance and cleaning of biomedical equipment following user manuals and protocols, and alerting the supervisor in case of malfunctioning devices.
    • Participating in the morning departmental meetings and ensuring written handover is done before leaving the service.
    • Ensuring knowledge and application of updated MSF protocols, policies, and guidelines.
    • Participating in on-the-job and other laboratory-related training for both lab and non-lab staff.
    • Issuing accurate and reliable emergency laboratory test results to the respective wards/units in a timely manner.
    • Participating in transfusion activities, including blood transfusion file review.
    • Participating in Quality Improvement staff meetings whenever required.
    • Actively participating in other project activities and meetings.
    • Participating in the development of reforms in working strategies.
    • Participating in new laboratory investigations when implemented.
    • Participating in routine weekly lab on-job training.
    • Performing any other context-specific laboratory duties as assigned by the direct-line supervisor from time to time.

    Requirements

    •  Essential Laboratory Technician diploma/degree.
    • A minimum of 1 year of working experience is essential.
    • Mission language desirable and local language essential.
    • Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Internet).
    • Results, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, service.

    Remuneration
    According to the MSF salary scale, this is plus a 13th-month allowance, equivalent to 1 month of gross salary.
