Engage in preparation of well engineering design and operational plans for drilling of wells, including well planning, casing design, material and equipment selection, log evaluation, quality assurance and post-job evaluation.
Define rig selection criteria and requirements.
Manage the Well Delivery Process (WDP) and the Project Maturation Process (PMP) and ensures compliance with the processes.
Ensure all engineering activities are in line with HSE policies and procedures.
Provide technical input to the well construction, completions, well intervention and abandonment phases.
Requirements:
BSc degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
7-10 years well engineering experience.
Experience leading and managing a well engineering team.
Well Control certification is an added advantage.
relevant extensive work experience in well construction, completions, intervention and optimization.
Have a competency in drill bits/mills, BHA design, engineering simulations, field operations, and preparation of work programs.
Have competency working in at least two relevant applications: conventional rotary drilling, horizontal and/or multilateral wells, pad drilling, unconventional, coiled tubing drilling, underbalance or managed pressure drilling.
Must be able to Integrate sub-surface objectives into well designs and program.
Experience managing an IOC or NOC’s Drilling team in the Niger Delta
Onshore and offshore experience with a track record of delivery in a drilling engineering leadership role.
In depth experience with drilling operations (including stuck pipe avoidance, total losses etc.,), workovers and interventions, both from an office and a rig site perspective.
Develop and implement detailed operational plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with JV objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
Coordinate with Drilling, Completions, and Production teams to ensure integrated planning.
Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of resources for production activities.
Monitor and analyze operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to optimize efficiency and productivity.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management or a related field.
Advanced degree (Master’s) in an added advantage.
Possession of relevant professional certification, e.g., PMP is an advantage.
Possess minimum 10 (ten) years active experience in Operations Planning within an oil-producing asset.
Experience in the Niger Delta/Rivers region is essential.
Proven track record of leading and managing complex operational projects with an oil- producing asset.
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results timely.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic work environment.
Knowledge of operational planning principles, project management methodologies, and industry best practices.
Experience in working in both onshore and offshore environments.
Lead the undertaking of Drilling activities for well planning and well designs
Planning and execution of exploration, appraisal, and development drilling activity.
Conduct detailed Well engineering studies and plan Well operations
Ensure accurate AFE costs are prepared and managed for each project
Ensure the most cost-effective techniques and equipment are utilized to improve well constructing.
Promote competitive advantage through developing cost-effective drilling programmes to implement Company’s exploration, appraisal and development Well campaign.
Requirements:
B.Eng. in an Engineering Discipline (master’s in petroleum engineering or Well Engineering desirable.)
Possess minimum 15 (fifteen) years active experience in drilling operations with minimum 10 (ten) years in senior supervisory well Construction / Drilling position in a high project load environment with intense activity periods.
Experience in the Niger Delta & Rivers region is essential.
Previous experience and demonstrated proficiency in a similar Well engineering role in a large Operating company or oilfield services company especially with deviated and horizontal wells in Land, swamp and offshore drilling operations.
Valid IWCF Well control certificate (Supervisor Level as a minimum).
Hybrid experience across OFSE and E&P is preferred and an added advantage.
Proficiency with Industry recognized Well Engineering/Well Construction software.
A good understanding of the entire value chain of the Well construction domain: Strong understanding of QHSSE, Well Planning, Rig and Rig operations, Drilling Fluids/Chemicals, Waste and Solids control/Managements, Bits, MWD/LWD/DD, OCTGs, Wellheads and Xmas Tree, Mud Logging, Wireline, Cementing, and Well Testing.
